Infectious Diseases Institute Jobs 2019: The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to strengthen health systems in Africa, with a strong emphasis on infectious diseases through research and capacity development. IDI has five operational areas through which it works to achieve its mission: Prevention, Care and Treatment; Training, Research and Laboratory services (provided through a partnership with the Makerere University-John Hopkins University Core Lab) and Outreach.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Working closely with the Monitoring and Regulatory Officer (MRO) on all communications, submissions to local and US IRBs and the Sponsors in liaison with the study PI’s and Study Coordinators.
  2. Assists MRO in planning and conducting training of new and old staff in research regulatory compliance and source documentation (New/ongoing studies).
  3. Assist the MRO in the development of the QA/QC plan and work closely with the PI’s and CQM chief in developing the site QM plans.
  4. Quality Control review of the study regulatory files according to Regulatory office schedules.
  5. Assist the MRO in monitoring the compliance of studies, submitting SAE reports to the local IRB and to other local regulatory bodies.
  6. In liaison with the MRO, maintain all essential documents across studies according to GCP and Sponsor guidelines, IDI policies and advice/ guidance from study monitors.
  7. Assist the MRO and PI during external monitoring/Audit.
  8. Follow-up on any regulatory pending issues (submission/approvals).
  9. Assist the MRO in reviewing of all participant’s signed informed consents once they are delivered to the Regulatory office and maintain a confidential tracking log for all IC’s across studies.
  10. Responsible for tracking of all research regulatory documents e.g. Staff HSP/GC training and practising licenses.
  11. Ensure centralized master files filling system is in accordance with GCP guidelines
  12. Ensure the functionality of the Regulatory affairs system (RAIS) including keeping it updated at all times

Assist in ensuring the functionality of Scientific review committee including organizing or scheduling its meetings

Required Qualifications, skills and experience.

  1. Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Human Subjects Protection (HSP) certificates
  2. Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field (preferably Biomedical Sciences)
  3. Good knowledge of national and international research ethics guidelines
  4. Experience of working in a research setting
