Joint Medical Store is a private-Not-For Profit (PNFP) Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) which was established in 1979 as a joint venture between the Uganda Catholic Medical Bureau (UCMB) and the Uganda Protestant Medical Bureau (UPMB). We are duly registered as a corporate body under the Trustees Incorporation Act, Cap-165 and under the NGO Registration Amendment act, 2006. About The Graduate Trainee Programme

Graduate Trainee Programme JMS provides to young people that have recently completed studies in specific courses related to JMS operations opportunity to get valuable work experience and skills through a Graduate Trainees Attachment Programme. The attachment is for a fixed period not exceeding twelve months.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for upcoming openings on the Graduate Trainees Programme. Participants will be exposed to work environment and opportunity to develop their general knowledge, skills and attitude towards work and therefore employability.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must:

  • Have completed studies not more than twenty-four months ago (i.e. from the date of this advertisement)
  • Have a Diploma either in Stores Management, Pharmacy, Procurement, Logistics, Credit management, Business Administration or Nursing.
  • Have a Degree either in Stores Management, Pharmacy, Procurement, Logistics, Credit management, Business Administration or Nursing.

Be available during JMS working hours on a full time basis and must be ready to be deployed in a pharmaceutical warehouse operational environment for the duration of the attachment.

The successful applicants for the Graduate Trainee programme will not be a regular employee of JMS but will be paid a stipend for upkeep during the period of training.

Currently Mercy Corps has an office in Kampala and is implementing Food Security programs which comprise of Water and Sanitation, Livelihood and Agriculture and Conflict Mitigation Management Program in North and North Eastern Uganda. Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Work with Senior MEL Manager and Director of Programs to prioritize gaps based on a remote feedback report to be addressed during the internship and workplan for the internship.
  • Conduct gender assessments and develop gender integration plans, which may include the following:
  • Data collection and analysis with support of enumerators and Senior MEL Manager.
  • Development of final Gender Assessment Reports and presentations.
  • Organization of team review sessions around digesting the findings of a gender assessment and co-development of the gender integration plans. Review sessions may include external stakeholder and partners, as needed.
  • Share learnings with the Mercy Corps Uganda, ideally in at least one field office as well as the Kampala office. This session can also act as a validation workshop for the internship. Webinar with the wider Mercy Corps Uganda team can also be organized.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant for the Gender Integration Internship at Mercy Corps must hold a Bachelor’s degree in liberal arts, international development, public policy or a related field and with knowledge and/or interest in the field of gender. Master’s degree preferred
  • Experience with qualitative and quantitative data, assessment, evaluations or other learning processes.
  • Excellent English written and oral skills; Excellent communicator.
  • Experience in evaluation, assessments and Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning.
  • Experience in gender integration and mainstreaming preferred.

  5. Maintain positive working relationships with IOM’s Lead VAC Partner, VFS Global and CIC staff locally.
  6. Immediately inform management of any problems or issues related to her/his daily work and regularly make suggestions on how to improve efficiency and client service.
