Job Summary: The Quality Controller will ensure compliance to food safety management systems across all departments within HMH-RAINBOW.

Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Quality Controller will support the Quality Assurance Supervisor to:

  • Supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in Broiler House pre-placement checks in Broiler Farms
  • The jobholder will also supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in cleaning the slaughterhouse and waste collection area
  • Assign training of new workers to qualified workers in the Feed Mill, Slaughter House and Broiler Farms
  • Keenly review reports and confers with Quality Assurance and Production  Managers to solve work related problems
  • Direct workers in quality assurance audits and inspection and testing in the Feed mill, Slaughterhouse and Farms
  • Monitor compliance with food safety rules
  • Accomplishes quality assurance human resource objectives by orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, and disciplining employees, communicating job expectations and enforcing policies and procedures.
  • Carrying out food quality checks at the Distribution Center in Kampala
  • Perform other duties as assigned and as per the company Food Safety Management  Systems which cuts across the organization

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidate must hold a Diploma in Food Processing or Food science
  • Additional training in ISO audits for training.
  • At least two years’ experience with one year in a busy processing organization

Job Description:

To support the provision of comprehensive nutritional care support among HIV/AIDS and TB, pregnant mothers and children in farming communities

Job role:

Plan and manage the integration of nutrition into agriculture for high target clients (ART, pregnant women and children below 1000 days).


  • Conduct community mapping for of high target clients for nutrition integration (children, pregnant mothers and HIV/AIDS and TB.
  • Conduct baseline of target clients for integrated nutrition model.
  • Participate in health-facility assessments for NACs (NAC support)
  • Provide technical support to HC-based workers NACs using ministry of health guidelines plus FLS.
  • Train, support monitor community-based nutrition teams in NACs for high target clients (ART clients, pregnant mothers etc.)
  • Implement the FLS for mama, baby class and family class.
  • Conduct specialized HB-C for ART, pregnant women and children in nutrition


  • Experience in behavioral change communication for ART, pregnant mothers and children below 1000 days.
  • Experience in food preparation

Job Summary: The Quality Analyst works within the Quality Department which is responsible for developing and monitoring systems to control the quality of beer and spirits as well as protecting the environment from harmful effluent. Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • The incumbent will protect the high quality standards of UBL beer and spirits products.
  • Provide Process Quality Assurance activities to production and troubleshooting within the Quality Control Laboratory.
  • Provide quality technical support in problem solving in process and carry out training on analytical techniques at quality work stations for operators as well as monitor performance
  • Manage and nsure that analytical lab performance KPIs are consistently met within the process.
  • Manage the consistent implementation of the quality safety and environment management systems, LTO, CARM and UNBS requirements in the analytical laboratories.
  • Pass or fail analytical equipment depending on whether they meet or do not meet operational requirements
  • The jobholder will manage to ensure timely accurate and reliable results and report & ensure that analytical lab performance KPIs
  • Manage the timely closure of brewing and packaging analytical non-conformances
  • In charge of ensuring that chemical reagents are standardised and laboratory equipment’s are well calibrated and are in a good working condition.
  • Ensure that processes are accurately monitored &improving production time.
  • Perform analytical, sensory and microbiological checks along the process line to ensure product consistency.
  • Participate in analytical ring scheme and investigate where any anomaly is found if any to ensure Diageo laboratory accreditation requirements are complied with.
  • Prepare statistical process control charts, monitor and advise any process deviations to ensure product consistence.
  • In charge of the analysis and coordination of monthly samples.
  • Ensuring that actions arising from samples are handled.
  • Routinely monitor process critical control points and data generation.
  • Take decisions related to any process anomalies that may result into critical defects with in the process.
  • Training new Quality analysts in the Quality section.
  • Provide quality technical support in problem solving in process and carry out training on analytical techniques at quality work stations for operators as well as monitor performance.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicant should hold a BSc preferably in food science and technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Industrial Chemistry or microbiology.

The NOA Assistant Nutrition Officer supports UNHCR contribution towards the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and ensures that UNHCR and international nutrition minimum standards are met to minimise avoidable mortality and morbidity among populations of concern. S/he coordinates a network of country-level focal points based in the provinces and provides technical support to UNHCR field offices, Implementing partners and various Sections in the area of nutrition within UNCHR Operations in DRC. His/her technical knowledge and support skills are essential to ensure decisions that impact positively on the survival and well-being of UNHCR populations of concern. S/he facilitates country-level coordination of nutrition focal points, so that nutrition programme planning and implementation is streamlined, resources are optimally utilised and there is active participation of the Government, implementing and operational partners, refugees and other persons of concern as well as sister UN agencies.   • Represent UNHCR in nutrition -related fora at country level.
  • Collect, update and disseminate nutrition-related data, information and tools to relevant partners.
  • Organise/participate in nutrition-related participative need assessment and planning process during emergency situations as well as in care and maintenance and repatriation/reintegration programmes.
  • Participate in review and analysis of relevant project proposals and budgetary submissions presented by UNHCR partners within context of UNHCR programme cycle.
  • Make sure that nutrition-related activities are effectively implemented according to sub agreements with relevant IPs. Participate in various nutrition-related surveys and evaluations.
  • Participate in elaboration and dissemination of nutrition-related database and contingency plans for potential epidemics, refugee IDPs and returnee movements.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly and annual nutrition-related report for UNHCR (following the current health, HIV and nutrition information system).
  • Organise nutrition-related meetings and field visits with partners on a regular basis.
  • Identify training needs for IPs and persons of concern to UNHCR and plan for required trainings.
  • Perform any other duty as requested.

Accountability and Authority

  • Assistance is provided to UNHCR officer in establishing partnerships with government ministries, NGOs, other UN agencies and donors and coordinate planning a response to refugee-related environmental damages in the country.
  • Technical advice is provided to develop project proposals and to support programme implementation of environmental and self-reliance projects.
  • UNHCR management is assisted in establishing coordination, monitoring and evaluation systems, including information sharing mechanisms regarding nutrition related issues.
  • Support the UNHCR Representation in coordinating matters related to environment amongst different sectors within UNHCR, the local authorities, and implementing partners.
  • Represent UNHCR in relevant national meetings and technical conferences in the area of environment.

Minimum Qualification and Professional Experience Required

  • University degree in Public Health, Nutrition, or Health Care (e.g. medical or nursing qualification) or related field. – Minimum 2 years previous job experience relevant to function (public health and coordination).
  • Knowledge of health and nutrition in humanitarian emergencies.
  • Training and experience in nutrition and health is an advantage.
  • Experience working with progressively higher levels of responsibility and management with international organisations, (including non-governmental organisations and UN agencies) in field of health and nutrition.
  • Practical working experience in refugee or other emergency or post-emergency settings.
  • Strong communication skills, availability for frequent field visits.

The Government of Uganda received a grant from the Global Agriculture and Food Security Program (GAFSP) towards implementation of the Uganda Multi-sectoral Food Security and Nutrition Programme (UMFSNP). The Project Development Objective (PDO) is to increase production and consumption of nutrient-rich foods and utilization (ff community-based nutrition services in smallholder households in project areas. Job Summary: The District Project Assistant (DPA) will support the District Project Coordinator in; Project implementation, coordination, supervision and carrying out M&E activities. The key duties will include assisting the District Project Coordinator to ensure compliance with the Project ImplementationManual (PIM), compiling M&E activity reports, facilitation of trainings at primary school and community levels and providing feedback to the community, district and national levels.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Support the District Project Coordinator to ensure compliance with the Project Implementation Manual (PIM).
  • The incumbent will assist the District Project Coordinator to plan and execute project activities in a timely manner as planned in the PIM as well as regular Work Plans and Budgets (RWPB).

Qualifications and Experience:

  • The ideal candidate for the 15 District Project Assistant jobs should hold an Honour’s University degree in one of the following fields: Agricultural Sciences, Food Science and Technology, Project Management, Nutrition, Education, Health, Environmental Studies, Community Development or related areas from a reputable university/institution. A good knowledge and understanding of the project area is an added advantage.
  • Prior experience in either community development or research in this area or a related field.
