Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend to all ERP issues
  • Strictly follow the company guidelines/procedures.
  • In charge of the implementation of new procedures.
  • Implement IT helpdesk and send weekly KPI to management.
  • Implement and follow backup and restore plans.
  • Work closely with information systems service providers concerned in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that all licences are up to date and to strictly follow on their renewal schedules.
  •  Manage users’ access to systems and review periodically users’ access rights.
  •  Keenly monitor systems and network performance.
  •  The jobholder will also manage domain controller and windows server.
  •  Minimize downtime.
  •  Perform troubleshooting and any repairs.
  •  Ensure that new users are well initiated and fully instructed as to the proper usage of both hardware and software.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

About us

Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) is a private-not- for profit Company under Makerere University. MJAP works to build partnerships and strengthen health systems to optimally respond to HIV/AIDS, TB and other diseases of public health importance in Africa.

In collaboration with the Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP) MJAP will implement a program on Accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control in Masaka region (Gomba,Butambala, Sembabule and Mpigi districts). In addition, MJAP is anticipating a sub-award grant for accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control in Kampala region; under the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

Role Definition: Support the project to manage the day to day ICT operations and managing the ICT infrastructure through configuration, implementation and maintenance of ICT equipment in in line with the Program ICT policies.

Reports to: Finance & Operations Manager

1. Identify and implement new ICT technologies and methodologies that will benefit the Program

and project to achieve set goals efficiently and effectively

2. Installing, maintaining and repairing hardware and software

3. Testing and evaluating new technology and supporting new applications and users.

4. Implement network security measures to protect data, software and hardware.

5. Trouble shoot telecom, computer hardware/software and network problems

6. Give technical and expertise support to procurement office regarding procurement and disposal

of ICT goods and services

7. Implement backup solutions for program data and information

8. Basic maintenance of the mail server with outlook for users, File Transfer Protocol (FTP) service,

and update the servers as per the human resource department

9. Prepare and deliver capacity building programs to staff in usage and consumption of ICT services

10. Plan, design and implement Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN) and

Wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN) solutions and keep them in a functional state

11. Carryout periodic maintenance of ICT equipment.

12. Website maintenance which will include regular updating of the program website

13. Install computer devices including printers, scanners, office phones, etc. and carry out regular servicing of MJAP ICT equipment in the supported districts and health facilities, line with ICT policies and procedures.

Qualifications and job specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Telecommunication or its equivalent education from recognized University.
  • Professional certification in managing Microsoft systems MCTS on a centralized network environment or its equivalent. (Microsoft Certified Technology).
  • 2 years’ relevant working experience in ICT services
  • Knowledge of network design, implementation and administration; and internet systems and operations
  • Knowledge of Linux administration
  • ICT management and trouble shooting
  • Preventive maintenance of computers and accessories

About URA:

Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) Jobs: URA was established by the Uganda Revenue Authority Statute of 1991 and set up in September of the same year as a central body for assessment and collection of specified revenue, to administer and enforce the laws relating to such revenue and to provide for related matters. This statute incorporated all the laws that were in force then regarding tax collection. The new organization (URA) amalgamated the three tax administration departments that were responsible for all the taxes collected by the Central Government of Uganda.

Job Summary: The Officer IT Hardware will install and maintain the URA IT and Network Hardware Infrastructure as per the good industry practice and in accordance with the URA ICT policies to facilitate business operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

Install, monitor and maintain hardware to ensure optimum performance as per ICT set standards and industry good practices.

  • Install hardware, rack mount hardware, LAN, power and endpoint equipment and such like as may be acquired by URA from time to time.
  • Carry out Preventive Maintenance (PM) of IT equipment assigned, test and verify to ensure optimum performance
  • Conduct Corrective Maintenance (CM) of various IT equipment including fault detection, diagnosis of various peripheral devices and endpoints.
  • Perform routine safety checks, including electrical tests, and maintain the appropriate records.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels for spares and fast moving parts based on analyzed usage and trends.

Keep an up-to-date CMDB of IT Equipment serviced and generate periodic management reports to facilitate decision making:

  • Update Configuration Items (Cis) as per CM guidelines
  • Update CMDB records and keep efficient stock control system both in the workshop and in the field
  • Ensure the safe disposal of obsolete equipment, used consumables and waste materials in line with recognized procedures and legal requirements
  • Provide information for use in planning and implementing changes to elements of the ICT infrastructure as required.

Provide support by Responding to user service calls and requests to facilitate business operations.

  • The incumbent will receive and analyze the service calls and requests
  • Determine and plan for the resources needed to resolve the call (s)
  • The Officer IT Hardware will conduct corrective measures to calls received on soft and hardware problems.
  • Raise awareness amongst staff and users on aspects such as data protection, IT security, health and safety policies
  • Generate a report and submit to line manager for further management.

Carry out pre-delivery and acceptance tests and Verifications on new hardware Equipment and assist in the identification of obsolete or irreparable Equipment for Boarding off.

Purpose

IT Jobs Uganda – As the size of the DRC/ DDG Uganda expands, additional support is required to maintain a standard level of service to the office. In addition, as Uganda office embarks on an IT improvement and standardization plan, a skilled and dedicated IT support will be required to implement and support IT intervention in the West Nile field locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Control and maintain IT systems such as to minimize IT service downtime
  • Assist in performing software installations and support day-to-day systems operations.

  • Ensure that the anti-virus within the organization is updated on a timely basis.

Personal Specifications

Essential:

Muteesa I Royal University (MRC) is a private University that was accredited by the National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) in 2007. its Main Campus is situated in Kirumba Masaka, with other campuses in Mubende and Mengo Kakeeka. The mission of the MRU is to provide an effective and efficient setting for the development of intellectually dynamic individuals, principled and resource l professionals and practitioners. MRU is seeking to recruit highly motivated, innovative and committed candidates to fill the positions highlighted below:
3 ICT Technicians (3 positions)
Reports to: Management tnfomration System Manager Role definition: To maintain the proper fumtioning of lCT eaxrrav. install sottware and provide solutions to the daily technical problems experienced by the users in line with ICT policy
Key Result Area  Responsibility
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Monitor and certify the operationalization of the MRU Networks in line with set departmental guidelines.
  • Safeguard the provision of internet Awess through me MRU web server/s and ensure that all staff access to the internet is timely and appropriate and also maintaining the firewall protection.
  • Develop and maintain the ICT equipment register, to provide a detailed analysis of equipment replacement needs and central ICT resourcing.
  • Carry out routine hardware preventive maintenance at defined set period so as to reduce Computer hardware equipment breakdowns in order to keep bank operational at all times in line with system administration policy
  • Carry out installation and configuration of all new computer hardware to ensure that it operates to maximum potential in line with set departmental standards.
  • Update and Maintenance of the MRU corporate website and giving support to IT users.
  • Recommend disposal of old IT Equipment in line with set IT standards.
  • Install and test new software that is appropriate to the users’ needs using an automated distribution mechanism
  • Document a reference guide for the current developed ICT languages and protocols
Qualifications and Experience
  • A Bachelor degree in Computer Science and Technology or Information Science or Business Computing from a recognised University.
  • Six month experience
  • Network design, management and security
  • System installation and management skills
  • Documentation and information management skills
  • Customer care and service skills.
