Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Core responsibilities:

  • Meet with the village elder and guides to understand village boundaries
  • Coordinating with team members, visit every household in the village
  • Complete census surveys with accurate data
  • Explain GiveDirectly’s program to eligible households
  • Provide cell phones and SIM cards as necessary
  • Identify and eliminate ineligible households
  • Explain safety and readiness information to recipients
  • Ensure someone in the household is ready to operate the phone to access transfers

Desired attributes

The Field Officer will play a critical day-to-day role in delivering Give Directly’s gold-standard cash transfer product to donors and recipients. For that reason the suitable candidate for this position will:

  • Possess previous working experience in the field with preference to vulnerable communities (1-2 years minimum)
  • Have ability to conduct and support recipient surveys and associated processes.
  • Must possess work/language proficiency in English, Kiswahi and Rutoro will be an added advantage.
  • Computer and mobile device data entry knowledge and skills and good typing skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to represent the organization effectively to external parties.
  • Have ability to exercise patience and good judgment in resolving recipient problems
  • Particularly skilled with interpersonal skills with high empathy, honesty, and integrity

Job Description
Action Against Hunger (ACF) is an International Humanitarian NGO which has been in
existence for over thirty years. ACF has been implementing Food Security and Livelihoods,
Nutrition, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programs in the Lango, Acholi, West Nile and
Karamoja regions of Northern Uganda.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Support:
Co-ordinate the supply of CBSFP, BSFP and MCHN food at all distribution points
Monitor CBSFP, BSFP and MCHN food stores and ensure that the food commodities are stacked in an organized manner. In addition, ensure good storage conditions for all food items including NFIs such as pallets are present in the food stores
Work in liaison with nutrition officers, submit timely food requests to the Deputy Programme Manager for verification and ensure that food is received and delivered at the different distribution sites.

Capacity Building:

Identify and propose training needs of store keepers, food distribution assistants and other staffs involved in food utilization.

Assessment and Reporting:
Prepare and submit weekly summary reports of daily food transaction/consumption indicating the number of children, pregnant and lactating mothers registered and provided with therapeutic supplies
Prepare and submit monthly corporate partner distribution/food utilization (CPDR) reports
Report differences observed between waybills, physically count 􀂡gures of commodities received. In addition, document the type, quantity, condition of commodities received from warehouse.

Staff Management and Supervision:
Mentor and supervise store keepers and food distribution assistants involved in MCHN & CBSFP food distribution at health facility and community level
Identify and propose training needs of store keepers and food distribution assistants

Coordination & Representation:
Actively participate in internal and external meetings as guided by the PM guidance
Actively participate in internal and external meetings as guided by the PM guidance
Actively participate in events organized in the refugee and host community setting
Coordinate with other sections of Action Against Hunger and all other stakeholders in the response
Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.

Qualifications Skills and Experience:
The ideal candidate for the Action Against Hunger (ACF) Store Personnel job opportunity should hold a diploma in food science/food processing technology, Store and records management, Nutrition or related field.
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English
Extensive knowledge of word processor, spreadsheet and other programs is advantageous
Excellent store management skills
Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently
Extremely 􀂢exible with the ability to cope with stressful situations
Excellent reporting skills with good oral and written communication skills

  • From time to time give assistance with logistical support to the organization of in-house trainings and meetings ensuring the venue is in order, stationary available, clean/suitable food and refreshments are provided if need be.

About Project:

Doctors with Africa CUAMM is due to implement a district health systems strengthening project in West Nile with a similar intervention already running in Karamoja in partnership with UNICEF. The purpose of the project is to support the district health systems in service planning, implementation, support supervision, quality improvement and information management and reporting leading to sustainable increase in access to health services especially maternal, neonatal, adolescent, nutrition and EMTCT services and stronger district health systems. Districts with refugees will receive support in line with the Refugee and Host Population Empowerment (ReHoPE) strategy, in order to deliver government-led, multi sector actions directed to both host communities and refugees.

Job Summary: The Maternal Neonatal Officer will provide capacity building to health centre staff (especially midwifes) in the management of labour and emergencies in labour including new born care for sick and healthy neonates.
