Job Title:          4 Graduate Trainees – Saving Officers  (UGAFODE Jobs)

Duty Station: Mbale, Uganda

Reports to: Branch Manager and Savings Manager

Job Summary: 

UGAFODE Jobs: The Graduate Trainee (Savings Officer) will be tasked with the mobilization of deposits and marketing of UGAFODE financial products. These officers will be responsible for integrating and aligning savings growth with introduction of new alternative channels, manage client relationships and ensure that personal targets are achieved in the attached branch.

About UGAFODE:

UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI) is a registered financial institution in Uganda and is adherent to the Central Bank’s regulations and guidelines and was founded in 1994 to provide quality microfinance services.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Work closely with the Branch Manager, draws the monthly action plan for the field promotion activities of the attached branch;
  • Implements the schedule of action plan agreed at the beginning of the month and provide daily feedback to his/her direct supervisor;
  • Responsible to represent and comprehensively explain UGAFODE mission and vision and all other products to the potential customers;
  • Develop excellent product knowledge of UGAFODE products and that of other competitors in the market, as well as take responsibility to stay updated with the changes related the products’ features that might occur and provide a transparent information to the potential customer;
  • Responsible to conduct financial literacy trainings to communities, schools and UGAFODE existing clients.
  • Sells and cross sells all the savings accounts accordingly and other alternative delivery channel products, such as, AirSave, Money Transfer, Mobile Money, etc.;
  • Suggests specific or particular savings promotion activities according to the specifics of the area and prepare the action plan in the branch level;
  • Supports the branch team in the market drive activities, leads the team and guarantees the follow up process for opening accounts to the potential customers identified during the field event;
  • Responsible to achieve the personal monthly targets both, in numbers and volumes;
  • Follows-up the and makes sure that the accounts activated by his/her promotion efforts are actively used by the customers;
  • Keep record of the data collected in the field on a predefined template;
  • Reports and provides feedback to Branch Manager and Savings Manager. 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The ideal candidates for the UGAFODE Graduate Trainee (Savings Officer) jobs must hold Bachelor’s degrees in any business related field. Professional qualification is an added advantage.
  • A minimum of two years of related work experience in a financial institution or from a highly sales-driven environment
  • Prior experience as a Savings Officer in a reputable Bank, Microfinance Bank or other Financial Institutions is an advantage
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and confident

Job Summary: The Credit Officer – Individual Lending is mainly responsible for recruiting of clients and visiting prospective clients homes and business to access the credit worthiness   and will manage the portfolio effectively and efficiently to ensure sustainability

Key Duties and Responsibilities:   

Promotion of products and origination of new clients:

  • In charge of marketing of the Individual lending products
  • Client mobilization and sensitization on all loan individual loan aspects
  • Build and maintain portfolio of quality clients rapidly and consistently to reach target portfolio within assigned period.
  • Work closely with community organizations, business associations, and individual entrepreneurs

Conduct loan evaluations according to policies and procedures :

  • Develop an accurate evaluation of each client’s capacity and willingness to repay the requested loan.
  • Correctly complete loan application and evaluation forms;
  • Arrange and undertake business site visits;
  • Verify and cross-check all information relevant to the loan application and evaluation;
  • Evaluate the willingness and capacity to repay of the client;
  • Ensure an appropriate guarantee is in place and documented;
  • Determine and present loan terms and conditions to credit committee.

Credit committee member:

  • Actively participate in credit committees providing input on other members’ loan proposals;
  • Prepare and present own loan proposals to credit committee.

Provide high-quality customer service:

  • Build relationships with each client to support the business success and cultivate loyalty.
  • Offer suggestions and referrals where appropriate and within company policy;

Manage and recover late repayments:

  • Implement late repayment recovery procedures of UGAFODE;
  • Achieve and maintain targets on portfolio at risk and loan loss;
  • Regularly monitor repayment reports daily and client behavior patterns.

Build community rapport:

  • Build rapport with community, business associations and leaders;
  • Be known and visible in the community;

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidates for the UGAFODE Credit Officer – Individual Lending jobs must hold Bachelor’s degrees in Microfinance or related field
  • Two years experience in Microfinance Institution
  • High level of integrity and commitment to excellence
  • Good customer service and relational skills

The Banking officers & Sales and Marketing staff on the graduate programme will be responsible for attending to customer inquiries in the banking hall, customer service, KYC and savings account opening, relationship building, paying out and receiving cash at the till, processing MTS & mobile money transactions, and marketing of all UGAFODE products and services.
