JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Product Innovations Associate’s mandate is to own and assist the processes of Product Innovations for Uganda with the aim of increasing impact for our clients. Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
Department deliverable: The PI Associate will lead Uganda PI’s farmer field trials at specific sites focused on agriculture and non-agriculture trials and be fully responsible for its management and timely execution. This includes day to day execution of the field activities ensuring in research stations and farmer field trials.
Trial requisition :As the field executioner of farmer trials, s/he will be expected to prepare input requirements, and submit to manager for purchasing, repackaging, and final delivery.
Casual management: The PI Associate on ad-hoc basis might lead a team of casual both for office and field activities and will make necessary arrangements before calendared activities take place in research sites in OAF working districts.
Planning: The PI Associate is responsible for the trial planning process with manger(s)and is expected to do the planning well advance to ensure smooth coordination among relevant stakeholders like procurement and logistics.
Mentoring and professional development: The PI Associate’s responsibility is to mentor his/her team members and is expected to build strong Key Deputies. S/he is expected to provide regular actionable feedback and create development plans for each direct report.
Training: The PI Associate needs to ensure that individual trial related proposals and training materials are already in place. S/he should be a good public speaker and well versed with agriculture-related knowledge. S/he will be expected to train staffs, enumerators and/or casuals if required for different running trials.
QUALIFICATIONS
Specific qualifications include, but are not limited to:
A bachelor’s degree in Agriculture or any related field.
6 months to 1 year of strong work experience, including working with Agriculture Research Stations, conducting multi locations trials, or experience in managing crop trials.
Demonstrated leadership experience at work, or outside of work. Examples of demonstrated leadership experience include managing a team and farmer groups.
A pro-active worker with great planning skills.
Humility & Maturity. PI Associate is a professional who combines strong leadership skills with maturity, patience, and a humble approach to service.
Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and MS PowerPoint is preferred.
