Job Title: Internship  (Technology Support Services) – MUWRP Uganda Jobs 2020

Duration:  This is an unpaid internship for three months.

Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) Profile:

Makerere University Walter Reed Project (MUWRP) is a non-profit biomedical research Organization, whose mission is to mitigate disease threats through quality research, health care and disease surveillance. MUWRP was established in 2002 by a Memorandum of Agreement between The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, lnc. (HJF) and Makerere University (Mak) to undertake medical research to test HIV vaccines. Over the years, MUWRP’s portfolio has progressively expanded to include vaccine research for Ebola and Marburg viruses, surveillance of influenza and influenza- like viruses and other emerging infections in humans and animals; also epidemiological, basic and implementation research in HIV treatment, care and prevention programs in the Districts of Kayunga, Mukono, Buvuma and Buikwe.

Job Profile:

The MUWRP Technology Support Services consists of multiple teams which include Cyber Security, Enterprise Applications, and Infrastructure & Operations. We are looking for interns who may have an interest in one or more of these IT disciplines, as we have an awesome opportunity for someone to spend their time working and learning across multiple teams in our section.

Enterprise Applications is looking for individuals with an interest in design and implementation of onsite and cloud-based apps, data management tools and management of the virtual data centers they’re hosted in. Cyber Security is looking for security automation towards endpoint management, cloud management and regulatory compliance, for MUWRP’s entire application and data portfolio.

Infrastructure & Operations is looking for individuals who are interested in Desktop and Systems Administration, and Network Engineering to support MUWRP’s unique technology challenges across the multiple sites. You will work with the team that is critical to MUWRP’s day-to-day operations. Bring your amazing troubleshooting and debugging skills, your passion for customer service, and our very experienced and talented IT team will help you attain next-level expertise and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Current student in Computer Science, Information Systems, Applications Development or related field, with CGPA 3.0 or higher.
• Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems into actionable steps.
• Strong communication skills.
• Excited to work and learn in a high paced environment.
