Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Profile:
The Authority is a corporate body with perpetual succession and may sue and be sued in its corporate name and do, enjoy or suffer anything that may be done, enjoyed or suffered by a body corporate. The Authority is the governing body of the Capital City and administers Capital City on behalf of the central government subject to this Act. Any enactment that applies to a district shall, subject to this Act and with the necessary modifications, apply to the Authority
Job Profile:
Policy development officers within local council social services departments research, plan and develop services. They also advise elected council members and senior management on their options relating to policy, planning and development.
Roles and responsibilities:
The incumbent will be responsible to the Supervisor Policy Development for performing the following duties:-
- 1. Drafting legislative proposals/amendments and contribute to the introduction of legislation that will help Authority achieve its aims.
2. Monitoring relevant legal developments both nationally and internationally and using the developments to improve the Authority legal environment.
3. Together with the Directorate Management contributing to the development of policy positions.
4. Analyzing and critiquing laws and legislative proposals from the perspective of international law and standards on freedom of expression
5. Contributing to standard-setting, through participating in meetings, drafting work plans and promoting international standards.
6. Providing legal expertise and support to the directorates in the developing policies, procedures, guidelines and working framework.
7. Any other duties that may assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualification
Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honour’s Bachelor’s Degree in Law and Postgraduate Diploma in Legal practice from a recognized University/Institution. A Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant field will be an added advantage. Must be enrolled as an advocate and a member to relevant professional associations.
Working Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of two (2) years working experience in legal practice at Assistant Officer or Officer level in Government or any reputable organization.
