Job Profile

Jumia is looking for a Public Relations & Communication Manager to work within the company in Kampala. The role is to support Jumia Uganda in the development and delivery of the digital Communication strategy.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Build a strong network of media partners –
- Be pro-active by pitching media and organize interviews with Jumia stories
- Increase Jumia’s Brand awareness through media and social media
- Write articles for the media, including press releases and reports.
- Organize Press Conference or any PR events
- Be a spokesperson for the company
- Brief the team about the wording, Q&A, talking points and prepare a public presentation
- Handle the corporate SM in collaboration with SM team (Marketing) and HR (LinkedIn)
- Prepare Comms videos and pictures for the corporate SM (Twitter Group, Twitter Uganda and LinkedIn Uganda)
- Report on PR activities – Following PR processes / reporting.
- Support the Group Comms team for cross country projects
- Support the deployment of innovative marketing operations: increase traffic and conversion on the website
- Proof-read content, including but not limited to social media posts, blog articles and press releases.
- Administration of press and social competitions, to include organizing prizes and contacting winners.
- Crisis management
- Create Public Affairs to interact with regulators, International Institutions and others relevant stakeholders.
- Internal Communications in collaboration with HR
Minimum Qualifications
- Previous experience in Comms, Journalism or Public relations
- Complete fluency in both spoken and written English.
- Education to degree level or equivalent in PR, Communication or Journalism.
- Must have a commendable Media network and relations.
- Independent and resourceful.
- Strong drive and leadership.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
- Ability to meet demanding targets.
- High level of motivation, determination and commitment.
- Skilful in content creation, as well as copy-writing and proof-reading
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the e-commerce industry
