Health Service Commission Profile:
The HSC derives its mandate and functions from Article 169 of the 1995 Constitution of the Republic of Uganda; section 56(3) of the Local Government Act, CAP 243 and, the HSC Act, 2001 section 25(2). In the perspective of laws, the HSC was established in 1998 to address unique Human Resources for Health issues in the health service. Specifically, the Commission is mandated to appoint, confirm, promote and review the terms and conditions of service, training and qualifications of health workers. The Commission is also mandated to foster professional and work ethics and exercise disciplinary control over the health workers under its jurisdiction.
Job Summary
Receive patients, register admissions, discharge patients and record deaths.
Roles and responsibilities:
- Adhere to the relevant Codes of Conduct and Ethics.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the Supervisors from time to time.
- Participating in research activities
- Participate in bedside oncology nursing procedures as a member of the caring team.
- Keep patients comfortable and ensure a clean and safe environment.
- Manage and accounts for the allocated resources.
- Impart knowledge and skills to students and staff.
- Participate in Doctors/Clinical Officers Ward rounds.
- Compile daily Ward reports and hand over to in-coming shift.
- Ensure that aseptic techniques are observed.
- Prepare patients for meals and participate in serving them.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- BSc. Nursing Degree or its equivalent from a recognized University or Institution.
- Good communication, counselling and interpersonal skills. Should have a patient-focused approach and pleasant personality.
