Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation -Uganda (Baylor-Uganda) is an indigenous not-for-profit child health and development organisation affiliated to the Baylor College of Medicine International Paediatric AIDS Initiative (BIPAI), a Network of paediatric HIV/AIDS care and treatment Children’s Clinical Centres of Excellence and international program offices in 11 countries across Africa and Eastern Europe.
Job Summary:
The study nurse will responsible for providing nursing care services to the study participants and implementing procedures for Recruitment, Quality Control, follow‐up, retention and exit of study participants as well as monitor the implementation of systems and procedures for managing study in line GCP guidelines and study protocol.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Participate in the identification, screening and recruitment of eligible participants and ensure achievement of the target number of participants within the designated period, with close follow up of enrolled study participants to minimize loss to follow up according to the study protocol.
- Perform the required study Anthropometric measurements on all the study participants as per visit schedule in line with the study protocol and GCP guidelines.
- Provide initial treatment for any patients requiring admission and follow up these patients on the ward together with the study doctor according to the Uganda clinical guidelines, and prevailing national HIV/TB treatment guidelines and GCP guidelines. Provide clinical care to participants according to the Uganda clinical guidelines, national HIV and TB treatment guidelines.
- Collect data for completion of Case Report Forms (CRFs) or source documents and file them accordingly in line with the study protocol and GCP guidelines.
- Conduct quality control (QC) procedures on completed informed consent forms (ICFs) and CRFs from each station for accuracy and logical completion then document the Identified errors in the study error log. Make immediate alerts to the concerned study staff to rectify the errors, follow-up resolution of errors and forward the file to the filing clerk for data entry in a timely manner as per the Study Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Respond to data queries from routine QC/QA or site monitoring visits by internal and external Study Monitors in line with the study protocol and GCP guidelines.
- Prepare and circulate minutes from meetings to key stakeholders. Prepare weekly study progress reports to the study team and any other reports as requested by the co-investigator in line with the Study protocol.
- Carry out Population Sampling Evaluations (PK) for study participants in line with the study protocol and GCP guidelines.
- Participate in writing and review of study SOPs as per the need to clarify steps for critical procedures.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a recognized institution and registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council
- At least 2 years’ experience offering nursing care in a research setting, including conduct of Pharmaco-Kinetic (PK) studies
- Training in HIV/AIDs treatment, prevention and research is an added advantag
- 3 Years Relevant Experience
