Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) Profile

The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) is a non-profit research organization. IDRC conducts research in infectious diseases including Malaria, HIV and Tuberculosis. Our studies have led to over 300 publications and have impacted on the management of infectious diseases in Uganda. IDRC currently manages over 41 Grants with an annual budget of $11 million. IDRC was established in May 2008 by Ugandan health scientists from Makerere University College of Health Sciences, University of California, San Francisco and the Uganda Ministry of Health.

 

 

Job Summary:

The Infectious Diseases Research Collaboration (IDRC) seeks to hire a STUDY NURSE for the 3HP Options Trial. The successful candidate will be based in Kampala.

Purpose of Position: Recruitment, screening, consenting, enrollment and follow-up of study participants. Entry, tracking and recording of study data on all source documents and resolution of data queries.

 

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Participants correctly screened, consented and enrolled.
  • Accurate and timely entry, tracking and recording of information on all source documents.
  • Accurate and timely resolution of data queries.
  • Performing study participant baseline screening laboratory procedures.
  • Follow-up and exit of study participants as stipulated by the protocol.
  • Responsible for screening and enrolment of study participants.
  • Triaging participants and taking vital signs during screening and other clinic visits
  • Maintain the welfare of study participants.
  • Issue transport reimbursements to eligible study participants.
  • Work with Study Coordinator to manage the daily operation of the 3HP study.
  • Schedule and review routine patient appointments and assist in identification of missed visits.
  • Ordering of drugs and other clinic supplies, keeping stock of drugs and other clinical supplies.
  • Administer and manage study and concomitant drugs and maintain all accountability logs
  • Conduct any needed ongoing participant counseling
  • Submit weekly updates to your supervisor and quarterly achievements
  • Any other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Diploma or Degree in Nursing from a reputable institution
  • Registered with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council
  • GCP & HSP certificate within the last 2 years
  • TB/HIV Research Experience
  • Ability to work flexibly with different teams
  • Proficiency in Luganda
