Job Summary:

The number of female Public Health Engineers has not only been alarmingly low in Oxfam but also across all humanitarian organizations globally. A ratio, as low as 1 in 10 female engineers have been documented in the past decade (IET Skills survey). Early participation figures for women in Engineering and Health Promotion field have also been low. In part, because both engineering degrees and apprenticeships showed a massively disproportionate imbalance in favor of men and societal traditions globally once portrayed engineering profession as a male dominant field. In Oxfam, the statistics is globally gross and nationally worrying.

The overall objective is to increase the number of professional female engineers and Health Promoters within the humanitarian sector in Uganda and beyond.
