Job Summary:

The Project facilitator will provide overall strategic leadership and oversight the Empowered Aid project activities at field level. The jobholder will provide technical support in relation to relevant conflict management, protection and gender standards; mainstream protection and gender in livelihood, General food Aid project and ensure adherence to child protection minimum standards in humanitarian action (SPHERE Standards) and principles as well as the Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse/Code of Conduct. The jobholder will create synergies with other existing projects and ensure to build on the gains made in the previous phases of the project. They will interact with the former project beneficiaries, co-facilitate project training and participate in project meetings as per the agreed frequencies with the donors.

The Jobholder will be at the center of what started as the research project and will be responsible for documenting lessons learned, recommendations from community engagements and PSEA studies during the project. The project facilitator will initiate and facilitate discussions with the members of the Refugee Advisory Board of (refugee women and girl co-researchers who are PSEA champions / ambassadors that have been involved as co-researchers in the research from the outset)

The project facilitator will work closely with women leadership structures in the refugee community of Bidibidi settlement especially the women groups, technical advisory groups, and groups of girls who participated in the previous phases of the project. The jobholder will ensure that activities are approved, implemented, monitored and reported according to the agreed project plans. The job holder will be a thought leader, driving continuous improvement in the project through their technical expertise, facilitation of learning and innovation. S/He will report according to agreed project plans in line with the donor and World Vision Uganda (WVU) policies. The jobholder will work under the direct supervision of the Response MEAL coordinator.

 

 

Roles and responsibilities of World Vision Uganda Jobs 2022:

Program Implementation and Management:

  • Capacity building of project staff and key stakeholders on protection, Gender and sexual exploitation and abuse
  • Train staff and community structures on mainstreaming of gender and protection in food assistance.
  • Participate in internal and external trainings, as requested by the by the Donor and or guided by project activities and the implementation plans.
  • With the close support of the Project Manager, prepare and conduct capacity building trainings for the staff and community-based structures (CPCs, Foster Parents, Faith based Leaders, community leaders etc. in thematic topics and implementation of minimum standards and various SOPs.
  • Provide day-to-day technical support to women and girl co-researchers who are PSEA champion who have been involved as co-researchers in the research from the outset.
  • Coordinate and monitor all project activities at the field level, ensuring quality implementation and achievements of results by the partners with the lead of focal points.
  • Creating synergies between Empowered Aid project and other BPRM funded protection projects.

Reporting

  • Ensure timely and quality reports are submitted for reviews to technical head of the project.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and donor reports and other specific reports on programme related topics.
  • Provide assistance in data collection, compiling lessons learned, establishing indicators to support knowledge sharing.

Representation, Coordination and Networking in relation to Gender and Protection activities.

  • Represent World Vision Uganda at the monthly & quarterly gender-based violence and child protection working groups hosted by UNFPA, UNHCR and UNICEF at settlement, district and national level to share progress, challenges and appropriate follow up plans.
  • Represent World Vision and ensure both Donor and World Vision Visibility during the celebration of international days like the 16 days of activism and others relevant to the project.
  • Promote the enrolled of trainees on the Empowered Aid online course.
  • Monitor and report the application of knowledge gained by humanitarian workers after completing the online course. This will be done through tracer studies

The staff will ensure quality and timely project activity implementation as well personal growth in the field of protection and gender by the staff

  • As requested by line manager, update WVU internal documents regarding gender and share those with the team
  • Keep track of gender and protection related issues in the settlement; and inform the team on changing vulnerabilities.
  • Write success stories related to project and project developments as they relate to gender equality and protection issues.
  • Support project research, evaluations, and baseline studies on gender/women’s and girl’s empowerment with technical advice and guidance
  • Participate in developing technical materials, SOPs, capacity building and tools in relation to gender and protection.

Any Other Duties

  • Perform any other duty as may be assigned by supervisor or designee from time to time.
  • Participate and contribute in teams, committees and task forces appointed to including Senior Management Team, National Disaster Management Committee, Risk Committee, National Resource Development Team among others

 

Qualifications for World Vision Uganda Jobs 2022

  • Minimum of Bachelors in Gender Studies, Social Work, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Human Rights or any other relevant field.
  • This position requires at least 3 years of experience working in Protection and gender development programming, preferably in fragile contexts. Familiarity with key international standards for humanitarian work (e.g. CP Minimum Standards, Red Cross and Red Crescent Code of Conduct, SPHERE, and the Humanitarian Accountability Partnership (HAP) Standard, etc.)
  • Experience having work in a similar context is desirable
  • Experience in providing trainings and building capacity of staff would be an advantage.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, and prioritize the safety and dignity of beneficiaries at all times;
  • Computer Literacy (Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, creativity and flexibility.
  • Comfortable in a multi-cultural environment, flexible and able to handle pressure well.
  • Flexibility in working overtime when needed;
  • Track record demonstrating high integrity, innovativeness, creativity, reliability and dependable
  • Proactive personality, self-driven and strongly motivated.
  • Spiritual maturity, interfaith knowledge and a biblical worldview Ability to articulate and model our Christian identity and mission in an inclusive way.
  • Demonstration of well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ensure a gender perspective in the scope of work and passion for children.
