Job Summary:

As a key member of the African team you will report to the Projects Manager based in Kampala, Uganda. The successful candidate will be involved in PUR Projet’s new and existing projects in the development, coordination, management and monitoring of ecosystem restoration, agroforestry and regenerative agriculture initiatives with local agricultural communities in different regions such as the Rwenzori region in the districts of Kasese, Fortportal, Bunyangabu & Kabarole.

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Project management: Contribute to coordinate project schedules, collect and manage data for internal reporting, review project deliverables, and update reporting and communication materials supplied by the communication & marketing team. Work closely with the Project Manager, technicians and in-field partners to implement project activities, control quality of implementation, improve proceedings, and coordinate impact monitoring activities. Understand needs and train field partners on reporting and monitoring tools needed to execute the project and measure project impacts. Contributes to regular reporting on actuals, budget & reforecast.
  • Project development: Support the development of strategy plans for new and existing projects, aligning with key industry frameworks and/or carbon accounting methodologies. Provide field insights to the programs team on demand of the project manager. Contribute to regular reporting on progress. Deliverable management : Maintain internal tools updated (ERP, project tools..) Provide field insights to support the production of client’s deliverables and development of communication and marketing content
  • Project monitoring / data: Be responsible for the data collection with the support of Field Data Collectors/Officers. Adapt and implement data collection forms to the project’s local context. Coordinate and monitor the implementation of data collection with local partners and local teams, providing training when necessary. Manage field deployment of data collection. Consolidate and analyze data projects outputs and report to the Project Manager and the region’s Field Data Officer any issue. Support the implementation of the project’s impact monitoring strategies.
  • Monitoring, planning and people management: Collect the supplier invoices and integrate them in the tool in a timely manner (ERP).with local admin support where needed. Communicate to the finance team if there is any delay.
  • Partnership and representation: Supervise & work with local partners (cooperatives, farmers, associations, implementing partners). Represent PUR Projet at the manager’s request.

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

You are organized; You have some knowledge in agroforestry, cocoa and coffee, and you are passionate about climate, agroecological topics to make a real impact: This position is for you!

We are looking for a candidate with :

  • 2 years experience in sustainable agriculture managing projects or in consulting for the optimization of agricultural practices in Africa and/or field projects implementation worldwide.
  • Graduated from a Msc in Environmental protection, Agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Agronomy, Forestry, Rural Development or equivalent.
  • Knowledge/professional experience related to agroforestry with the coffee/cocoa supply chain.
  • Knowledge with carbon certification for afforestation/reforestation projects will be an advantage.
  • Digital Tools: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Drive.
  • Must be fluent in English and local languages : Lukonzo, Rutooro will be a plus
  • Candidates must have a valid National Identity card, a valid car and/or motorbike driver’s license, and a valid work permit – if applicable
