It also partners with governments and other NGOs on the adoption of its programme to spread the Mentor Mother Model and its benefits. m2m has a track record of scaling its services and proven impact. Job Summary:

The Program Assistant position provides implementation support in the six (6) Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Project-supported sites and surrounding communities in Jinja District.

Roles and responsibilities:

Activity planning and implementation (65%) 

  • Conduct capacity building /training for  facility and community peer mentors to enhance their capacity to deliver RMNCH-ECD inclusive services
  • Coordinate integrated outreach services to adolescent moms in remote areas/ communities to access HTS services in year 2 &3
  • Provide RMNCH, early stimulation, child development, nutrition and parenting support and education for pregnant and postnatal Adolescent Girls in health facilities via; one-on-one AN/PN sessions, group AN/PN sessions, group education talks and referrals and linkages to services
  • Facilitate group formation for adolescent girls-specific Postnatal Clubs (PNCs: one-stop shops, including parenting and play guidance and activities)  and parenting groups that incorporate context-specific creative methodologies disaggregated by risk
  • Establish adolescent-friendly services (for both in-school and out-of-school adolescents) at the health facilities
  • Assist in the development of positive living plans for adolescent mums and conduct joint monitoring of plans.
  • Increase disclosure of HIV status among pregnant and breastfeeding adolescents (including Home-based adherence and psychosocial support)
  • Conduct Social network testing/ Index testing for pregnant and breastfeeding adolescents  to Increase access to HTS for them and their partners
  • Ensure Integration of household economic strengthening and livelihood activities into Adolescent Girls support
  • Facilitate vulnerability assessments for all new AN/PN Adolescent Girls clients using m2m’s Vulnerability Assessment Tool.
  • Conduct routine QA/QI mentorships and supportive supervision using data for ongoing service improvements and create a safe and supportive environment for adolescents and their young children to receive services at supported health facilities.

People Management Support (15%)

  • Support the Program Officer to conduct performance contracting for health facility-based and community-based Adolescent Mentor Mothers,
  • Monitor Adolescent Mentor Mother wellness ; identify critical issues and link to PSS (or relevant support) in liaison with the relevant department
  • Ensure timely compilation of time sheets and leave forms and submission to Program Office within set timelines
  • Support capacity building/learning and development activities for ASRH Mentor Mothers
  • Promote a values-based culture amongst the Adolescent Mentor Mothers

Program Monitoring Evaluation and Reporting (20%)

  • Provide necessary M&E and client management tools to all community and facility AMMs
  • Ensure the routine collection, reporting, and analysis of community mapping data, and its utilization to promote program quality at community, facility, and district levels
  • Document and report best practices and success stories across the 6 implementing sites
  • Support site and community level RDQAs to improve program quality and reporting,
  • Support all m2m mHealth innovations at facility and community levels, including e-services
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Project Manager

 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Qualifications and experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health/community health or Nursing science
  • Minimum of 3 years’ work experience in adolescent reproductive health or youth and adolescent health programing
  • Good working knowledge and experience of relevant HIV and PMTCT protocols and policies in Uganda
  • Experience working with Reproductive Maternal Neonatal Child Health in local government will be an added advantage
  • Experience in training of lay health care workers, including  adolescent peers
