Job Title: Graduate Trainee Communications
Organization: Oxfam Uganda
Location: Kampala
Roles and responsibilities:
- Collect content and support the production for the monthly newsletter to key stakeholders (internal and external)
- Closely work with program and project teams to gather and write human interest and news stories.
- Support in the administrative and logistic part of the communications role including reviewing messages and products by partners
- Liaise with printers and other suppliers to ensure production of different materials is in line with branding guidelines
- Provide communications support during events
- Provide input and advise around communications plans and messaging where appropriate.
- Support in media management including media tracking and reporting
- Contribute to the social media content plan
- Support in media relations, keeping the media lists updated and monitoring, gathering press clippings and updating the media tracker
- Support in keeping the global shared photo database updated with Uganda content
- Support in keeping the intranet updated
- Support the internal branding process
- Support the Communication team in the delivery of the communications strategy
- Regulary travel to the field to support story gathering
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least a Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, Mass communication or similar field
- Ability to work in a team and under tight deadlines in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment
- Knowledge of media production, communication including digital communications, and dissemination techniques and methods.
- Proficient in use of computer applications related to the tasks
- Excellent communication skills, in written and verbal English.
