Working Hours: Full-time

  • Monday to Friday: 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Be prepared to be called on a Sunday for a farm visit by a client

Job Summary: You will be hired to serve:

  • Large Scale Commercial Farmers (At least 5 acres)
  • Farmers producing under intensive production systems such as GreenHouse Production
  • Farmers intending to farm without physical involvement

Collectively known at Omia Agribusiness as Affluent Farmers (prosperous farmers).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the success of Affluent Farmers in Agribusiness by providing dedicated support to enable them to produce and earn more.
  • Identify, engage, and retain Affluent Farmers. Collaborate with all Omia Agribusiness teams and other value chain actors to identify the farmers, address their specific farming needs, and ensure they remain happy customers.
  • Prepare detailed profiles for the farmers, document their needs, address and resolve challenges promptly, and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Align sales and marketing strategies to meet the expectations of the affluent farmers, resulting in a win-win for both the farmers and the company.
  • Stay updated on technologies and developments in the agribusiness space, including new varieties, breeds, best field management practices, and new projects.
  • Customize products and services to meet the specific needs of affluent farmers, ensuring a win-win outcome.
  • Coordinate with other Omia Agribusiness teams using the existing infrastructure to serve this specific market niche.
  • Provide detailed and organized profiles and reporting on affluent farmers, sharing regular reports with Management.
  • Coordinate the specific training and support needs of affluent farmers.
  • Organize high-level networking events for affluent farmers and participate in regional and national events.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture from a reputable University.
  • Agricultural Knowledge: In-depth understanding of agriculture (both crop and animal production), farming practices, and the specific needs of large-scale farmers.
  • Relationship Management: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse clients.
  • Sales Acumen: Experience in sales, business development, and achieving sales targets.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing client needs and challenges.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey information and build rapport with clients.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple clients, tasks, and priorities efficiently.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with ERPs and other relevant tools for managing client relationships and sales processes.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing client needs, market conditions, and company strategies.
  • Physical Requirements: Prolonged periods of computer work and occasional field visits. The ability to ride a motorcycle and a vehicle is an advantage as the position will involve regular field visits.
  • Language Requirements: English (main), Lugbara, Luo, Kiswahili, Arabic, Luganda.
