The university is located in Mukono, Uganda, on land granted by local chief Hamu Mukasa.
Job Description: As an IT Intern at UCU, you will provide operational and technical support for the IT Computer Lab facilities. You will work under the supervision of the Senior Network and Senior System Administrators to ensure the smooth functioning of the computer labs. Your key duties will include installing equipment and software, servicing and repairing lab equipment, performing routine audits, answering user queries, documenting lab configurations, and ensuring the efficient flow of information.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide operational and technical support for IT Computer Lab facilities.
- Install equipment and software required in the IT Computer labs under supervision.
- Arrange for servicing and repair of IT Computer Lab equipment.
- Perform routine audits of systems and software.
- Answer user queries related to the IT Computer Lab.
- Document the configuration of lab equipment and any changes.
- Ensure optimum operation of the Computer Lab facilities.
- Ensure efficient information flow between the Computer Lab owner department and UIS technical team leaders.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Information Technology from a recognized institution.
- Quick learner with the ability to acquire knowledge on computer software used for teaching and learning (e.g., accounting software, video editing software).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work beyond conventional working hours and on weekends.
- Committed Christian of high integrity.
