Position: Life Safety Technician

Summary:
The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Life Safety Technician. The Life Safety Technician will be responsible for maintaining all aspects of the various life-safety systems installed in Government Owned Buildings, U.S. Government owned residential properties, and Short- and Long-Term Lease residencies.

Duties:

  • Maintain all aspects of life-safety systems installed in government-owned buildings and residential properties.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and repair work on life-safety systems.
  • Ensure proper use of hand tools and electrical or electronic testing equipment.
  • Be available for on-call duty 24 hours a day.

Qualifications and Evaluations:

  • Education: Completion of secondary school (both ‘O’ and ‘A’ levels) and attainment of an advanced certificate/diploma in electrical and electronic applications is required.
  • Experience: Minimum of four years progressively responsible experience in the electrical or electronic field is required.
  • Language: English level III (Good working knowledge) Reading/Writing/Speaking is required.
  • Skills and Abilities: Must be able to work independently, troubleshoot electrical systems, and operate hand tools and testing equipment. Must hold a valid driver’s license for a minimum of five years with classes B, CM, DL.

Other Information:

  • Hiring preference will be given to certain categories of applicants.
  • All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
  • Applicants must be able to obtain and hold a Local Security Certification or Public Trust clearance.
