Job Description: Finance & Admin Manager (Full-time)

Job Summary:

Science Teaching and Innovations Africa (STIA), previously known as Science Teachers’ Initiative, is a registered Not-for-Profit Non-Governmental Organization of senior educationists and innovators dedicated to improving the quality of education and fostering critical thinking and innovation among young people in Africa. We are seeking a highly qualified Finance & Admin Manager to oversee financial planning, monitoring, reporting, and administrative services to support STIA operations. The Finance & Admin Manager will head the Finance and Admin Department, act as a strategic thought partner, and report directly to the Country Director (CD). This role requires adherence to IRS policies and procedures in compliance with STIA’s Finance and Administration Manual.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning and Management:
    • Oversee overall financial planning and ensure comprehensive financial monitoring and reporting.
    • Develop and manage annual budgets and financial plans in coordination with the Country Director.
    • Monitor and report on financial performance, providing insights and recommendations to management.
  • Administration Services:
    • Maintain and improve administrative systems to support the smooth operation of STIA.
    • Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures as outlined in STIA’s Finance and Administration Manual.
    • Support operational needs, including procurement, logistics, and office management.
  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Implement robust monitoring and evaluation processes to ensure effective financial management.
    • Track performance metrics and provide regular reports to the Country Director and relevant stakeholders.
  • Capacity Building:
    • Conduct training and capacity-building initiatives for staff to enhance financial literacy and management skills.
    • Provide guidance and support to staff on financial matters and administrative procedures.
  • Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements of donors such as USAID, UN, EU, World Bank, or AFD.
    • Prepare and submit financial reports to donors and other stakeholders in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, Accounting, Statistics, Economics, or a related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.
    • CPA/ACCA certification is required.
  • Experience:
    • At least 6 years of experience in planning processes, performance management, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity building in a robust NGO or INGO.
    • Knowledge of financial regulations and reporting for USAID, UN, EU, World Bank, or AFD.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in accounting software and financial management systems.
    • Strong communication skills and the ability to work independently.
    • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
