Role Overview:
National Water & Sewerage Corporation (NWSC) is seeking a highly experienced IT professional to manage and maintain its IT infrastructure and security at their Head Office in Nakasero, Kampala.
Job Title:
Senior Manager IT – Infrastructure & Security
Duty Station: Head Office, Nakasero, Kampala
Reports to: Director – IT
Main Purpose:
Responsible for the effective and proactive development, establishment, management, and maintenance of NWSC’s IT infrastructure and security. This includes local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), storage area networks (SANs), server hardware, IT connectivity, telecommunications peripherals, and IT security. The role ensures effective communication, reliable business continuity, maximum network availability, and adequate IT security measures.
Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain NWSC’s IT infrastructure, including LANs, WANs, SANs, server hardware, IT connectivity equipment, and telecommunications peripherals.
- Enforce IT policies, particularly those related to security.
- Maximize network availability and uptime.
- Ensure robust and reliable corporate network connectivity across all NWSC offices and locations, including home broadband internet.
- Manage IT equipment and hardware costs effectively.
- Maintain an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all IT assets.
- Configure and maintain corporate voice and telephony services.
- Perform other duties assigned by management.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science, or a related field (required).
- Master’s degree in IT, Business Administration, Project Management, or a related field (preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum 10 years of postgraduate experience in IT services, specifically in IT governance, application development, systems administration, IT security management, infrastructure, or networks.
- Minimum 5 years of experience within IT infrastructure, networks, or IT security management following postgraduate qualifications.
- Previous experience working with a large organization/firm (5 years minimum).
Certifications:
- CCNA Certification (required).
- Additional IT professional qualifications/certifications/affiliations (preferred).
