Job Description:

The Physiotherapist specializes in treating physical limitations caused by illness, injury, or disability. They play a pivotal role in rehabilitation by developing and restoring bodily functions, ultimately improving patients’ mobility.

Reports to: Medical Director/Clinical Services Supervisor

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Assessment of Patient:

  • Provides assessment, plans care, and delivers a range of physical treatments to resolve, restore, or maintain physical-based conditions.
  • Assesses, treats, and monitors mobility problems providing appropriate assistance from walking aids and supports.

Treatment Function:

  • Provides treatment to reduce pain, increase mobility, and limit secondary functional disability, providing effective and evaluated individualized programs of care.
  • Participates in ward rounds to communicate treatment plans and supports the medical team in providing holistic patient-centered care.

Multidisciplinary Team Function:

  • Provides support to the medical multidisciplinary team by providing physiotherapy-based assessment of the patient’s physical conditions.
  • Ensures the patient needs and progress is communicated to other members of the medical multidisciplinary team as appropriate.
  • Attends the medical multidisciplinary team reviews as appropriate.

Medical Recordkeeping Function:

  • Maintains accurate and comprehensive treatment notes keeping a clinical record of treatment interventions.

Occupational Health & Safety:

  • Works in a way that does not cause injury to yourself, other staff members, or customers.
  • Follows and complies with Health & Safety policies, processes, and applies them to one’s work activities, including using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required.
  • Participates in activities directed at preventing harm and promoting well-being in the workplace.
  • Identifies, reports, and self-manages hazards where appropriate.
  • Reports incidents at work early and accurately, raising issues of concern when identified.

Spiritual Ministry Participation:

  • Participates in the hospital’s Spiritual Ministry programs.
  • Attends chapel and departmental bible studies with staff (depending on weekly schedule).

Professional Development Function:

  • Identifies short-term training that can help perform your role better.
  • Participates in the scheduled training and sensitization arrangements by the hospital for all co-workers.
  • Ensures that the professional training tracker card is updated as per the above-mentioned training attended.
  • A minimum of 3 professional development sessions – self-initiated – are done in the fiscal year.

Punctuality and Attendance:

  • Reports to work as scheduled.
  • Reports to work on time as per schedule.

Participation in Meetings:

  • Attends and participates in department meetings as scheduled.
  • Attends and participates in general co-workers’ meetings as scheduled.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • The applicant must hold a bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy from a recognized institution.
  • Three years of experience in a pediatric rehabilitation facility.
  • Must be registered with the Allied Health Professional’s Council.
  • Must be willing to learn other clinical technician functions.
  • Good communication skills with peers, superiors, physicians, patients, and their families.
  • Ability to handle or process confidential documents or material in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks, establish priorities, and work independently.
  • Willingness and ability to adopt new knowledge and research procedures.
  • Flexible attitude to duties and to hours of work with ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Highly organized and meticulous.
