Jobtech for Refugees: Mercy Corps has built a global reputation for innovative economic development programming, particularly working with start-ups, and hosts a venture capital arm called Mercy Corps Ventures. Mercy Corps’ youth employment work places a focus on jobtech and is centered around investing, supporting product innovation, and conducting research on the opportunities for the jobtech sector. In late 2021, Mercy Corps launched the Jobtech Alliance, an ecosystem-building initiative around inclusive jobtech in Africa.

Position Overview: The Program Manager will be responsible for coordinating on-the-ground engagement with refugees, refugee-led organizations (RLOs), government, and stakeholders in the Jobtech for Refugees project. They will work closely with the Venture Building Manager and BFA Global to develop partnerships with jobtech startups.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Contribute to the Jobtech for Refugees strategy, focusing on supply-side engagements.
  2. Support RLOs in connecting refugees to jobtech and agritech platforms.
  3. Coordinate program implementation, ensuring it is on time, scope, and budget.
  4. Manage relationships with local authorities, RLOs, and other stakeholders.
  5. Write up experiences and contribute to the learning agenda around refugee support.

Minimum Qualifications & Transferable Skills:

  • Demonstrated excellence in achieving results and self-management.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in project management, management consultancy, livelihoods, or employment. Experience with refugees preferred.
  • Experience in management consultancy, with startups, and/or ICT4D is advantageous.
  • At least 2 years of experience managing budgets and subgrants or contracts with partners.
  • Excellent planning, management, and coordination skills.
  • Outstanding analytical capacity and communication skills.
