Job Summary:
Perfect Finance Uganda Limited (PFUL) is seeking Debt Recovery Officers to champion debt recovery activities in liaison with all external debt recovery partners of the company. The Debt Recovery Officers will play a crucial role in ensuring the timely recovery of non-performing loans.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Periodical review of recovery procedures and advising management on new developments.
- Prompt follow-up and recovery of assigned non-performing loans.
- Daily review of arrears position and advising the Supervisor on progress.
- Ensuring proper attention is given to the recovery of bad debts by institution’s recovery agents.
- Issuing and serving demand letters for delinquent loans promptly.
- Negotiating with debtors to ensure repayment of bad debts and default charges.
- Documenting and filing all recovery activities and follow-up in customers’ credit files.
- Working closely with court bailiffs, legal officers, and local authorities for quick disposal of securities pledged for non-performing loans.
- Liaising with court bailiffs and legal officers to employ alternative recovery measures for unsecured loans.
- Maintaining a proper diary of all scheduled debt recovery activities and sharing with the credit manager.
- Performing any other duties assigned by the credit manager.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- University degree in business-related fields.
- Qualifications in Credit Management/Debt Collection will be an advantage.
- 2-3 years’ experience in banking operations with exposure to credit or lending and debt collection functions.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Maturity, honesty, integrity, and a strong sense of ethics.
- Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
- Patience, understanding, persuasiveness, persistence, and firmness.
