Position: IT Database Administrator
Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Plan for all database systems and capacity management requirements.
- Analyze business application requirements and develop specifications for database construction and maintenance.
- Write database documentation, including data standards, procedures, policies, definitions for the data dictionary, capacity planning, maintenance, security, archiving, and recovery.
- Monitor and tune database performance, control user access, ensure security, and manage logs.
- Ensure corporate performance monitoring of all database resources, recommending appropriate actions in case of performance bottlenecks to keep workflow uninterrupted.
- Review database scripts from internal and external developers to confirm correctness to both user and business function needs before deployment to test and production environments.
- Install, configure, and set up databases in line with the IT policy.
- Ensure adequate security safeguards are in place to control access to all databases.
- Ensure the integrity of database files through daily monitoring of database backups, logs, journals, and transaction statistics.
- Oversee the proper distribution and controlled replication of data across Disaster Recovery (DR) sites and databases.
- Allocate disk space for new data tables and monitor space utilization for existing data tables.
- Implement database backup and recovery plans, and perform database recoveries in coordination with other areas of the IT department.
- Prepare periodic reports on the status of all database systems, including performance data, economics data, and database usage.
- Provide user support on the core banking and other related business applications.
- Provide Credit Reference Bureau support.
- Run end-of-day processing in the core banking system.
- Develop and design accurate system reports in the core banking system.
- Ensure reports are available and accessible to intended users in a timely manner.
- Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by supervisors.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in an IT-related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in Database Management.
- Certification in Oracle / MS SQL.
- Experience in Dot Net (C#) and/or Java/Java-based Application Development; SQL, Jbase & T24 Programming.
- Strong knowledge of Oracle / MS SQL databases.
- Knowledge of Windows and Unix/Linux operating systems.
