Company Overview:
NIC General Insurance Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of NIC Holdings Limited (NIC). NIC General was incorporated on 3rd March, 2014, and took over the general insurance businesses of NIC in compliance with the legal requirement for separation of insurance businesses under the Insurance (Amendment) Act.
NIC General Insurance is looking for an experienced individual to take up the position of Senior IT Officer – Business Systems.
Reports to: Head ICT
Purpose:
To enhance the company’s business systems to be in tune with changing and emerging technologies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist in the full business automation efforts as the technical lead.
- Assist in supervising the IT interns.
- Assist in developing new web-based software applications and/or modules as needed.
- Test developed web application systems.
- Provide advanced help desk support to staff on all NIC systems and network.
- Serve as an IT resource for personnel in other departments.
- Conduct cyber security awareness training for all users quarterly.
- Design, build, or maintain websites and software applications using scripting or authoring languages, management tools, content creation tools, applications, and digital media.
- Assist in performing website updates at the request of the corporate communications department.
- Back up files from websites to local directories and cloud storage.
- Perform any other professional duties as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
- At least three (3) years of relevant experience in a similar position.
- Proficiency in programming using common web development tools and languages.
- Skilled in managing databases using SQL or NoSQL technologies.
- Working knowledge of operating systems like Linux, macOS, and Windows.
- Basic understanding of secure coding practices.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Working knowledge of cloud services like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
