PATH is planning a study to inform the preparations for demand generation of a vaccine introduction in Uganda, working in collaboration with the Ministry of Health Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) and the National Malaria Control Division.

Job Title: Research Assistants.

Job Description: PATH is seeking to recruit ten (10) Research Assistants to collect data across different regions of Uganda through key informant interviews and focused group discussions. The data collectors will receive didactic and field-based training before conducting the study interviews. After training, they will be deployed for data collection activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Attend daily training sessions for data collection, including practical training components.
  • Familiarize with the data collection tools and understand the expected data for each question and questionnaire before starting data collection.
  • Ensure the proper and ethical execution of the study as per the defined methodology, including obtaining and documenting informed consent from all study participants.
  • Complete data collection in the assigned region in accordance with the interview/study schedule.
  • Collect high-quality, complete, and accurate data for the study.
  • Upload completed surveys in ODK within a day of completing each interview after reviewing and ensuring data completeness and correctness.
  • Draft a report summarizing progress, challenges, and relevant contextual factors related to the data collection activity in the assigned region at the end of the data collection period.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health-related program is preferred.
  • Over 3 years of experience in data collection in both English and local languages.
  • Fluency in one or more of the following languages: Acholi, Ankole, Ateso, Luganda, Lusoga, Japhadhola, and Lugbara.

Key Deliverables:

  • Attend training in data collection tools.
  • Submit complete and accurate data for the assigned facilities.
  • Provide a summary activity report after data collection.
