Job Description: The Project Assistant – Child Protection will play a crucial role in providing case management support to at-risk children in Adjumani, Uganda. This position involves identifying, assessing, registering, and documenting cases to ensure the well-being and protection of vulnerable children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify children with protection concerns in collaboration with community stakeholders.
  • Conduct thorough assessments and registrations of children using the BIP process to determine risks and needs.
  • Develop comprehensive case plans in consultation with children, families, and Community Based Child Protection Committees (CBCPs).
  • Implement case plans through direct services (e.g., psychosocial support, mediation) and referrals to other support services.
  • Monitor and follow up on cases to evaluate progress and address additional needs.
  • Close cases following evaluation criteria and verify children’s presence in settlement systems.

Technical and Capacity Building:

  • Report regularly on case progress using ProGres V4 and maintain confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Support the Case Management Supervisor and Senior Child Protection Officer in system maintenance and updates.
  • Strengthen community capacities through training and feedback sessions on child protection services and referral pathways.
  • Collaborate with community leaders and child protection committees to enhance support for children and families.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related fields.
  • Experience in child protection case management, particularly with refugee children and communities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite, ProGres V4, and SurveyCTO for information management.
  • Valid Class A driving permit and motorcycle riding ability required.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with negotiation abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, in challenging environments, and as part of a team.

Personal Qualities:

  • Proven ability to work sensitively and effectively with children, demonstrating a clean criminal record.
  • Flexible and adaptable team player with a proactive approach to networking and community engagement.
  • Commitment to adhering to security protocols and ethical standards in humanitarian work.
