Overview:

Stanbic Bank, in collaboration with Busitema University, is offering 100 vocational training scholarships to youths in Eastern Uganda. This initiative aims to empower young individuals from low-income households by providing them with essential vocational skills, enhancing their employability and enabling them to create their own job opportunities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate the scholarship application process for students in the districts of Busia, Pallisa, Tororo, Soroti, Mbale, Kamuli, and Butebo.
• Ensure that 10% of the scholarships are reserved for people with disabilities (PWDs).
• Liaise with local authorities for the endorsement of applicants.
• Facilitate communication between Stanbic Bank, Busitema University, and the applicants.
• Oversee the selection process and ensure it is conducted fairly and transparently.
• Monitor the progress and feedback of students during and after the training.

Training Programs Offered:

• Welding and metal part fabrication
• Post-harvest handling and processing technologies
• Irrigation technologies and innovations
• Automotive repair, operation, and maintenance
• Bricklaying and concrete practice

Qualification Criteria for Applicants:

• Must possess at least an O’ level certificate.
• Be less than 35 years of age.
• Endorsement from local authorities.
• From underprivileged families.
• Applications are also welcome from students who were unable to join university after their A-levels.

Feedback and Impact: The first cohort of trainees has provided positive feedback, highlighting how the training has broadened their horizons and opened up new opportunities for professional growth. The scholarship program has significantly impacted their lives, enhancing their employability and creating new job opportunities.

• Interested candidates must submit their applications by 05 July 2024 at 05:00 PM.
• A nonrefundable application fee of UGX 50,000 is required.
