Job Description:

We are seeking to recruit an experienced, dynamic, and detail-oriented Finance Officer. The selected candidate will be responsible for maintaining the financial stability of projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory and donor requirements, and providing strategic financial guidance. The Finance Officer will work under the supervision of the Head of Finance and Administration. Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Implement financial policies, procedures, and controls to maintain the integrity of financial transactions and reporting.
  2. Manage daily financial operations, including accounts payable and receivable, payroll, and general ledger activities.
  3. Prepare accurate and timely periodic (monthly, quarterly, annual) financial reports for management and organizational donors.
  4. Monitor budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring adherence to approved budgets and highlighting variances.
  5. Work closely with the programs team to develop project budgets and provide financial support throughout the project lifecycle.
  6. Ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements, including tax filings and reporting obligations.
  7. Collaborate with external auditors during annual audits to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.
  8. Provide financial analysis and recommendations to support strategic decision-making. You should also have excellent organizational skills and be able to handle time-sensitive tasks.
  9. Assist in managing the organization’s procurement and disposal processes.
  10. Perform any other duties assigned by the Head of Finance and Administration.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, or other business-related qualification with a bias in accounting, is essential.
  • Accounting professional certification such as CPA (at least level 1) will be an added advantage.
  • At least five (05) years of professional experience, three of which should be in a similar position with a reputable organization, preferably in a Non-Governmental Organization.

Requisite Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial management principles, practices, and procedures, including accounting standards and regulations and knowledge of donor-funded projects.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with others to achieve results.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with others both internally and externally to achieve the goals of the organization.
  • Knowledge of accounting software, particularly QuickBooks and Excel, is a MUST.
  • Grants Management experience is an added advantage.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, honesty, credibility, and dedication to the mission of ACFIM.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to effectively present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
