Job Title: Research & Documentation Officer

Organization: African Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture Victims (ACTV)

Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda

Reports to: Monitoring & Evaluation Manager

About Us: The African Centre for Treatment and Rehabilitation of Torture Victims (ACTV) is a Non-Governmental organization in Uganda, operating since 1993. Our mandate includes advocacy against torture and providing physical and psychological treatment and rehabilitation, social support, and legal services to survivors of torture.

Job Summary: The Research & Documentation Officer will spearhead research, prepare reports, disseminate information, and facilitate learning at ACTV.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collect and analyze data to assess the environmental conditions of survivors of torture.
  • Foster research on all aspects of pain resulting from torture.
  • Conduct research in line with ACTV needs, including field research, data collection, validation, analysis, and report preparation.
  • Lead the implementation of research activities within ACTV, in collaboration with external research and implementation partners.
  • Conduct comprehensive and accurate review of project documents and prepare reports of findings.
  • Generate reports on potential areas of program implementation and measure the effectiveness of projects undertaken by ACTV.
  • Manage the processing and storage of records and documents, ensuring accurate recording and uncomplicated access.
  • Design and implement an effective system for accessing and retrieving records, ensuring proper storage mechanism of all records and documents.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Timely completion of research projects.
  • Identification and conduct of research areas.
  • Collaboration on research activities.
  • Quality and timeliness of research reports.
  • Access to program information for ACTV staff.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Psychology, Human Rights, Health, Research, or relevant field.
  • At least three years of relevant work experience in an NGO.
  • Age: 25 – 35 years.
