With anticipated funding from the European Union/ECHO, FCA Uganda is seeking competent individuals to fill the following positions for the TOGETHER consortium’s Education in Emergencies (EiE) project.

Job Summary: The Education Project Assistant will support the Project Officer in planning, implementing, and monitoring education projects targeting primary and secondary schools, as well as Accelerated Education Programme (AEP) centers within refugee settlements. The role involves engagement with local education stakeholders and schools, promotion of child protection and safeguarding, professional supervision and support for teachers, project reporting, and contributing to progress monitoring. The Education Project Assistant will also be responsible for the day-to-day support to schools.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the day-to-day implementation of education projects, ensuring efficient and effective activities.
  • Participate in developing project work plans and mobilizing schools and communities for planned activities based on the project budget and timeline.
  • Promote child protection and safeguarding activities within the school environment in collaboration with relevant staff and stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular classroom observations and mentor teachers to enhance classroom management and teaching.
  • Assist in identifying teacher-training needs and planning capacity-building measures for teachers and school stakeholders.
  • Regularly visit each school to strengthen relationships with teachers, schools, and learners for improved educational outcomes.
  • Ensure the participation of school and education stakeholders in project and school activities such as community meetings, sensitizations, and dialogues.
  • Support Project Officers in reporting, distribution of scholastic materials, and monitoring their utilization for appropriate use.
  • Assist schools in implementing performance appraisals of teachers following MoES guidelines.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Needs Education, Adult Education, or related fields.
  • Two years of experience in educational programming, preferably with NGOs, focusing on formal education and/or Accelerated Education Programme projects.
  • Demonstrated experience in community mobilization and awareness-raising, particularly in refugee contexts. Basic knowledge of the local language is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with INEE Minimum standards is a plus.
  • Willingness to reside in the project location. Possession of a valid motorcycle license is an added advantage.
