Job Title: Data Fellow
Contract Type: Full-time, 6-month fellowship
Locations: Kampala, Uganda, or Nairobi, Kenya
About Dalberg Data Insights:
Dalberg Data Insights works to bridge the gap in awareness and adoption of AI in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). We focus on democratizing AI access for impactful organizations by designing AI/data strategies and solutions, providing AI literacy training, piloting AI/data solutions, consulting on Responsible AI practices, and developing & scaling advanced AI analysts and advisors. Our aim is to transform data into actionable insights to address global challenges.
About the Data Fellowship Program:
We are looking for 3 Data Fellows to join our team. As a Data Fellow, you will become an active member of a team working on ongoing projects, rotating between different Data Science and Project Management roles. The fellowship program aims to help you discover your strengths, drive your own initiatives related to data for development, and offer full-time employment to top performers.

You are eager to develop data tools and inclusive data ecosystems to assist public and development actors in making informed decisions. You aspire to tackle global issues, ensuring no population is left behind. You are a dedicated problem solver with an entrepreneurial spirit, committed to professional excellence. You are curious, a fast learner, and able to work independently and in multicultural teams.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
- Curious, resourceful, confident under pressure, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
- Self-driven, agile, and able to work independently and on multiple engagements simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Understanding of the social impact sector and familiarity with data visualization tools.
- Knowledge of AI technologies and their practical implementation.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
Desirable Qualifications and Skills:
- 0-2 years of experience working with digital solutions.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and algorithms.
- Understanding of data engineering principles.
- Proficiency in agile methodologies and project management skills.
- Familiarity with UX/UI principles and strong presentation skills.
- Ability to build relationships with clients and adapt to their evolving needs.
Salary: During the six-month fellowship: $800 per month
