Job Title: Senior Project Officer

Job Purpose:
The Senior Project Officer will play a pivotal role in leading project implementation and strengthening relationships with internal teams. They will be responsible for planning, managing, and evaluating projects, engaging stakeholders, providing leadership and support to project staff, monitoring progress and impact, fundraising, capacity building, reporting, and networking.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Project Management: Lead planning, implementation, and evaluation of projects in alignment with organizational goals.
  2. Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors, partners, community members, and other stakeholders.
  3. Leadership: Provide guidance and support to project staff and volunteers.
  4. Monitoring and Evaluation: Develop and implement frameworks to track project progress, outcomes, and impact.
  5. Resource Mobilization: Identify funding opportunities, prepare grant proposals, and cultivate donor relationships.
  6. Capacity Building: Identify training needs and opportunities for staff and partners.
  7. Reporting and Documentation: Prepare progress and financial reports, and ensure compliance with organizational and donor requirements.
  8. Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  9. Quality Assurance: Ensure adherence to organizational policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  10. Networking and Collaboration: Build relationships with stakeholders to foster collaboration and partnership opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences or a relevant field.
  • Postgraduate qualification in project planning, management, monitoring and evaluation, entrepreneurship, or youth development preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience in a reputable nonprofit organization.
  • Strong project implementation skills and ability to meet deliverables.
  • Proficiency in problem-solving, multitasking, prioritization, initiative-taking, self-motivation, teamwork, and independent work.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
