About U.S. Mission Uganda: The U.S. Mission in Uganda is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of PEPFAR Communications Advisor.

Summary: The PEPFAR Communications Advisor works with the PEPFAR Coordination Office and Interagency Health Team (IAHT) to formulate Mission-wide strategic communication plans and messages, and implement development, outreach, and communications efforts to increase awareness of PEPFAR programs in Uganda.

Duties:

  • Formulate Mission-wide strategic communication plans and messages
  • Implement development, outreach, and communications efforts
  • Support the planning and organization of public awareness campaigns
  • Coordinate the interagency PEPFAR team’s input on various communication deliverables

Qualifications and Evaluations:

Education: Completion of a college or university degree with significant coursework in relevant fields such as journalism, communications, public health, public relations, or international studies is required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in communications or a similar position in international development
  • Knowledge of standard practices for international development, health communication, and disseminating messages in the host country context
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and effectively convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Language: English: Level 4 – Fluent; written/spoken, including the ability to translate is required.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Self-starter with excellent organizational, time management, and analytical skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data visualization tools
  • Ability to work independently and in a multicultural environment
