Brief Description of WFP in Uganda:
In Uganda, WFP plays a crucial role in delivering food aid during emergencies, improving nutrition, and fostering resilience in communities. Specifically, WFP provides essential food assistance and livelihood opportunities to refugees and vulnerable populations in Karamoja. Furthermore, it collaborates with smallholder farmers, facilitating their access to markets.

Position Overview:
As a Communications Associate (G6) based in Kampala, you will be responsible for crafting compelling content to influence policies, enhance WFP’s visibility and reputation, and support fundraising efforts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop engaging content (text, photos, videos) for social media platforms.
  • Create and disseminate multimedia success stories showcasing donor support in Uganda.
  • Conceptualize and execute thematic communication campaigns to raise awareness about WFP’s mission.
  • Coordinate public events, ensuring timely execution.
  • Travel as required to support multimedia production and donor recognition efforts.
  • Produce and review fact sheets and operational briefs.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Fluency in English (Level C).

Desired Experiences:

  • Minimum six years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in WFP communication techniques and activities.
  • Understanding of traditional and new media landscapes.
  • Familiarity with key policies relevant to achieving Zero Hunger.
  • Experience managing social media for international organizations.
  • Ability to provide communication skills training and mentorship.
  • Proficiency in multimedia content production and relevant software.
