UCDA is currently seeking motivated and competent individuals to fill the position of Laboratory Technician in their Quality and Regulatory Services Directorate.
Job Title: Laboratory Technician
Directorate: Quality and Regulatory Services
Department: Quality Assurance
Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager
Duty Station: Kampala
Job Purpose: Provide support in all laboratory activities as needed and ensure that the laboratory is well-maintained.
Key Result Areas:
- Prepare laboratory equipment for grading, cupping, sensory tasting, and analysis.
- Roast and grind coffees according to set standards.
- Maintain custody of equipment, chemicals, and reagents in line with Standard Operating Procedures.
- Conduct analysis of coffee samples, soil samples, and other coffee-related products.
- Prepare requisitions for laboratory materials, chemicals, and equipment.
- Ensure the laboratory’s safety and cleanliness.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Laboratory Science Management or related field from a recognized university.
- Certificate in Basic Quality Control or coffee roasting is an added advantage.
- Three (3) years of working experience in a food-related laboratory, government lab, or relevant field.
Expected Personal Competences and Skills:
- Strong analytical skills.
- Attention to detail.
- Time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure.
