IRC Uganda Jobs: The International Rescue Committee helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover, and gain control of their future. It was created by Albert Einstein more than 80 years and has been working in Uganda since 1998. It has particularly working in the conflict zones where tens of thousands of people have been kills and over 1.6 million displaced. Following a peace agreement in 2006, Ugandans are returning home and looking to rebuild their lives. The IRC is there to protect women and children from violence and exploitation by fostering a safe environment and encouraging education, and is supporting farmers and small businesses, and helping communities promote peace and long-term development.

Job Summary: The HR/Admin Volunteer position is a temporary position and the Volunteer will be a member of the team who will contribute towards the achievement of the head office’s HR objectives.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: The Volunteer will work closely with the Admin/HR officer in performing the roles mentioned below; 

  • Support in creation of new staff personal files.
  • Update the existing personal files, ensuring that they all have the necessary information.
  • Organize the whole filing system according to staff T7s.
  • Assist in stamping all HR related documents.
  • General organization of HR Office documents/paperwork.
  • Perform any other official duties as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Confidentiality: Ensuring the non-disclosure of any information whatsoever relating to the practices and business of IRC acquired in the course of duty, to any other person or organization without authority, except in the normal execution of duty.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The applicant for the International Rescue Committee HR/Admin Volunteer job placement must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, or related field.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
  • Knack for detail.
  • Able to communicate effectively.
  • Good computer skills especially in MS excel and word.

EPRC Uganda Jobs: The Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) is Uganda’s leading economics research institution. Its mandate is to provide research and other forms of analytical support to Uganda’s development process. EPRC uses resources from Government of Uganda and Think Tank Initiative (TTI) under the International Development Research Centre (IDRC).

Job Summary: 

EPRC Uganda Jobs: The Volunteer Programme will support EPRC’s work by carrying out research projects and writing reports. The volunteer Programme will give recent Masters Graduates an opportunity to utilize the resources and facilities at EPRC and to work with EPRC researchers in areas of mutual interest. This is an opportunity to spend at least one year at EPRC utilizing your existing skills whilst developing new ones. You will be working full time during the programme. This may be the opportunity to link your postgraduate studies with a specific project that will benefit EPRC.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • The jobholder will be helping EPRC in its mission to foster sustainable growth and development of the Ugandan economy by advancing the role of research in policy processes.
  • Receive mentorship and gain an insight into the practices of conducting policy oriented research.
  • The jobholder will receive a monthly stipend to cover transport and basic expenses.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The applicants must have completed their Master’s degree in Economics or related fields and have shown ability to conduct research on developing economies.
  • Fluent in oral and written English
  • Possess good quantitative and/or qualitative analytical skills.

NB: Please note as the volunteer position is not part of the regular EPRC staff structure, you will not receive health insurance cover or any other related benefits provided to the regular staff.

Field Jobs In Uganda: Uganda Coffee Development Authority was established as a public Authority, and its mandate is to promote and oversee the coffee industry by supporting research, promoting production, controlling coffee quality, and improving the marketing of coffee in order to optimize foreign exchange earnings for the country and payments to the farmers.

Job Summary:

Field Jobs In Uganda: The Enumerators/Field Interviewer will support Uganda Coffee Development Authority (UCDA) in the establishment of a National Coffee Farmers’ Register in line with the National Coffee Policy and National Coffee Strategy. The information obtained will enable the Authority to properly plan for coffee specific interventions and provision of related services. This will be done through the registration of all coffee farmers countrywide with effect from April 2017. The registration activity will be undertaken by Enumerators deployed at sub county level using a smart mobile phone device.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • The jobholder will visit coffee farmers at their farms in the areas assigned and conduct interviews.
  • Collect data in the preloaded form on the mobile phone for every farmer visited.
  • Ensure accuracy of the data collected by crosschecking errors at all stages of data input.
  • Download all filled forms to the Server at the end of each day’s work. 

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

  • The ideal candidates for the Enumerators/Field Interviewer must at least hold an A-level (Uganda Advanced Certificate Education) attained in the last 2 years,
  • Ability to manage a Mobile Smart phone with the following specifications:
    • Operating System: Minimum Android Version 3.0 (Honeycomb) and above,
    • GPS: function without data connectivity,
    • Battery longevity should be at least 8 hours a day without charge,
    • Memory: 256MB RAM and above,
    • Functional Camera,
    • Functional Mobile data connection.
  • Previous experience in computer use or other digital devices for data collection.
  • Fluency in local language of the area.
  • Familiarity with the geography of the area of enumeration.
