Job Listing: Graduate Trainee Program

Text: Are you a young graduate with a passion for international relations? Are you eager to explore the workings of a diplomatic mission and contribute to the representation of EU interests and values in Uganda?

We Offer: An exciting traineeship opportunity of up to 6 months within the Political Press and Information Section of the EU Delegation to Uganda, commencing in October 2024.

Main Tasks:

  • Conduct research and analyze information
  • Contribute to drafting analytical reports on policies and current affairs
  • Assist in organizing events hosted by the Delegation
  • Attend external meetings and events, providing insightful reports
  • Aid in the planning of visits, missions, and meetings
  • Support the Press Officer in preparing daily press reviews and visibility initiatives

Qualifications or Special Requirements:

  • Applicants currently residing in Uganda will only be considered due to local health and security conditions
  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in political science, social science, journalism, or economics
  • Proficient in spoken and written English
  • Highly motivated, with the ability to work in a multicultural team
  • Strong initiative, research, writing, and analysis skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated interest in EU affairs and international relations

Additional Requirements (Assets):

  • Ongoing or completed Master’s studies in international relations or related fields
  • Knowledge of Uganda’s parliamentary affairs and political landscape
  • Experience in analyzing economic and sociological data
  • Teamwork and coordination skills
  • Social media and networking skills

Important Information: Before applying, please review the dedicated website and general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship. Selected trainees will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses, while all travel, visa, insurance, and accommodation costs are to be borne by the trainee. Applications from ineligible candidates will not be considered. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview, while unsuccessful candidates will be notified via email. Traineeships will be offered in compliance with local and country of origin legislation.

Citizens from EU Member States:

  • Must provide proof of pandemic coverage and repatriation costs
  • Should possess relevant entrance visa and/or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement and local legislation
