Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) Profile:

Makerere University Joint AIDS Program (MJAP) was established in 2004 and is registered as a private-not-for profit Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) of Makerere University. MJAP’s mission is to build partnerships and strengthen health systems to optimally respond to HIV/AIDS, TB, Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and other diseases of public health importance in Africa.

MJAP is implementing a sub-award grant from Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), for accelerating HIV/AIDS Epidemic Control in Kampala region; with funding from the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

 

 

Job Summary

The KP/PP Peer Linkage Facilitator will mobilise, track & follow up HIV negative clients on PrEP (retention), follow up KPs/PPs lost from care in MJAP supported sites, support effective linkage of all HIV positive KPs/PPs identified from the community to MJAP supported care centres or as otherwise mutually agreed.

 

 

Roles and responsibilities:

  • Linking KPs/PPs to health facilities and any other community where they need support.
  • Give health education on key HIV prevention interventions
  • Mobilisation of KPs/PPs for uptake of services in both the outreaches and supported health facilities
  • Drug & condom distribution
  • Making PrEP refills
  • Making reports on PrEP clients
  • Making prompt follow-ups of KPs/PPs who miss their appointments
  • Providing psychosocial support to fellow KP/PP peers on drug adherence, combination prevention packages and stigma reduction
  • Encouraging KPs/PPs to remain in care and ensure good retention at the supported facilities
  • Identifying KPs/PPs in communities who need services and linking them to health facilities
  • Documentation of the gathered data in the relevant tools
  • Compilation of summary reports to the supervisor

 

 

Qualifications

  • The applicant must hold an Ordinary Level UCE certificate
  • Special knowledge in the management of HIV/AIDS and its related complications, confidentiality, team player, ability to empathize and be patient and counseling skills.
  • Age: 20 years and above
