About UBOS: Uganda Bureau of Statistics (UBOS) is a key institution in providing accurate and reliable statistical information for Uganda. In line with its mandate, UBOS will be conducting the National Population and Housing Census (NPHC) 2024. Enumerators are vital to the success of this census as they will directly engage with communities to collect crucial data.

Job Description: As an Enumerator, you will be responsible for conducting census enumeration within assigned Enumeration Areas. Your duties will include:

  • Attending and participating in all training sessions provided.
  • Conducting door-to-door community mobilization for the census.
  • Identifying and demarcating boundaries of the assigned Enumeration Area (EA).
  • Collecting accurate information using a provided tablet on individuals, households, institutions, and communities in the assigned EA.
  • Transmitting collected data to the server on a daily basis.
  • Providing daily progress reports to the Census Enumeration Supervisor.
  • Compiling an end-of-assignment report at the conclusion of the enumeration exercise.
  • Ensuring all census materials and equipment are maintained in proper working condition.
  • Handing over all census materials and tools to the Census Enumeration Supervisor upon completion of the exercise.
  • Performing any other duties related to the census as assigned by the Census Enumeration Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Attend and participate in training sessions.
  2. Mobilize communities for census participation.
  3. Identify and mark boundaries of assigned Enumeration Area.
  4. Collect accurate data using provided technology.
  5. Transmit data to the server daily.
  6. Provide daily progress reports to Supervisor.
  7. Compile end-of-assignment report.
  8. Maintain census materials and equipment.
  9. Hand over materials to Supervisor upon completion.
  10. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of an A-Level Certificate or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications.
  • Possession of a National Identity Card.
  • Age between 18 and 50 years.
  • Residency in the village/cell of intended work.
  • Proven ability to mobilize communities.
  • Strong communication and public relations skills.
  • Ownership of a smartphone.
  • Mobile Money registered phone number in your own name.
  • Full availability from 1st April to 25th May 2024.
