JOB DETAILS:
Experience and Other Requirements:
- At least 3 years of working experience in compiling statistics at Officer Level.
- Sound knowledge, appreciation, and application of statistical techniques.
- Excellent working knowledge in either Social/Economic Statistics compilation.
- Practical experience in undertaking and managing surveys.
- Good working knowledge in Statistical Data Analysis using STATA, SPSS, MS Excel, etc., and advanced skills in report writing and presentation.
Qualifications:
- Honours Degree in Statistics, Quantitative Economics, Population Studies, or Economics with Statistics.
- Postgraduate qualification in Statistics, Population Studies, or Quantitative Economics will be an added advantage.
- Membership to the Uganda Statistical Society is a must.
- Membership to the International Statistical Institute will also be an added advantage.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Produce Social and Economic Statistics including rebasing of specific economic series as applicable.
- Develop metadata and document processes and procedures used in the production of quality statistics.
- Support the development of administrative data on subject-specific areas.
- Undertake data analysis, editing, report writing, and participate in the dissemination of Statistics.
- Create a centralized database for easy data access and utilization after dissemination.
- Undertake administration of the Unit including performance appraisal, on-job training & mentoring of Statisticians, development of budgets and work plans, and accountability of resources under the unit.
- Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
