About the Company:
CURE Children’s Hospital of Uganda is seeking a dedicated Nurse In-Charge for its Intensive Care Unit (ICU). The role involves leading and coordinating the delivery of high-acuity patient care within the ICU, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures, and maintaining quality improvement and patient safety standards.

Position Overview:
The Nurse In-Charge of the ICU will oversee all nursing activities and ensure that each patient receives quality care. This role requires strong leadership, clinical expertise, and collaboration with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to provide optimal care for critically ill patients.

Responsibilities and Duties:
The responsibilities of the Nurse In-Charge ICU include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinating patients’ care and ensuring appropriate health services are provided.
  • Fostering collaboration and teamwork among healthcare providers.
  • Planning nursing staffing and formulating nurse staffing rotas.
  • Conducting daily ward rounds and ensuring adequate documentation.
  • Participating in the formulation of nursing policies and procedures.
  • Ensuring all nursing staff are trained and familiar with relevant CURE policies.
  • Implementing infection prevention and control measures.
  • Monitoring and preventing hospital-acquired infections.
  • Supporting occupational health and safety initiatives.
  • Participating in continuous professional development activities.
  • Contributing to the hospital’s spiritual ministry programs.

Education and Professional Development:

  • Diploma in Nursing from a Recognized institution.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Critical Care Nursing is an added advantage.
  • Registration/Licensure by the in-country nursing regulation body.
  • At least 5 years of post-education experience in critical nursing, with 2 years in a supervisory/leadership role.
  • Experience in quality management certification or accreditation.
  • Training in BLS/ACLS/PALS/ETAT.
