Job Summary:
Join our team as a Chauffeur for the USAID Mission in Uganda. Positioned under the guidance of the Procurement Agent in the Executive Office (EXO), you will operate a range of passenger vehicles to support the mission’s efforts within and beyond Kampala. Your responsibilities will include transporting personnel, VIP visitors, temporary duty (TDY) staff, and conducting field trips. An integral part of your role will involve minor vehicle maintenance, ensuring cleanliness, and accurate record-keeping for each journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate official vehicles for transport of USAID/Uganda employees, TDYers, and official passengers.
  • Serve as a messenger for pick-up and delivery duties.
  • Plan logistics and perform necessary research for trips, taking into account safety and security advice.
  • Ensure adherence to local traffic laws and Mission policies.
  • Maintain accurate vehicle logs, manage preventive maintenance, and uphold vehicle care standards.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Completion of secondary school required.
  • A minimum of three years of professional driving experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License with classes B, CM, DL, DM.
  • Fluent in English with the ability to take instructions and convey information clearly.
  • Knowledgeable in 4-WD vehicle operation, Uganda’s traffic laws, and defensive driving.
  • Basic knowledge of first aid and vehicle mechanics.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills for reporting and communication.
