About USAID Project:

The USAID/Uganda Biodiversity for Resilience Activity (B4R) provides technical assistance to conserve and manage biodiversity in target ecosystems for lasting environmental and economic sustainability. It works closely with key government agencies in five target landscapes of Uganda.

Job Summary:

Under the supervision of the Field Operations Officer, the Driver will drive, maintain, and manage the project vehicle for the USAID/Uganda Biodiversity for Resilience (B4R) Activity within the allocated project scope.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Drive project vehicles with strict adherence to local traffic laws and project regulations.
  • Transport project staff and materials in the designated regions.
  • Maintain the vehicle in satisfactory condition, including cleaning and regular maintenance.
  • Ensure vehicle usage log and fuel consumption reports are updated and submitted as required.
  • Report any malfunctions, damage, or accidents to the supervisor.
  • Carry out project errands as required.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Secondary schooling desirable.
  • Five years of experience in driving a project vehicle, preferably for a USAID or other donor project.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing.
  • Defensive driving certificate.
  • Good knowledge of project activity areas and local road conditions.
  • Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with people of different backgrounds.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Quick and accurate visual judgment.
