Job Description: We are seeking to recruit a Chef to oversee and support the effective management of the kitchen and staff to achieve set objectives of the café.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the preparation and administration of quality meals from the kitchen.
  • Ensure compliance with food handling standards, health, safety regulations, and sanitation.
  • Lead and coordinate the work of the entire kitchen staff.
  • Manage inventory and requisitions within the approved budget.
  • Create and update the menu, determine food quantities needed.
  • Develop new menus, products, and recipes, and participate in costing dishes.
  • Identify potential sales opportunities and contribute to advertising and marketing.
  • Oversee ordering and stock level control, and maintain record-keeping.
  • Establish relationships with suppliers to benefit from discounts and credit.
  • Ensure hygienic storage methods and minimize wastage.
  • Oversee staff duties, machinery operations, and maintain quality standards.
  • Conduct staff appraisals and provide feedback for staff development.
  • Prepare management and performance reports.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in food science and technology, Hotel Management, or related field.
  • Minimum three years of supervisory experience with culinary mastery.
  • Must uphold organizational values, be a confident communicator, and possess integrity, confidentiality, trust, good work ethics, and sound judgment.
