Job Description:
The U.S. Mission in Uganda, a branch of the U.S. Embassy, is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Bodyguard. The incumbent will serve as a Bodyguard (BG) to protect the U.S. Ambassador/Chief of Mission (COM) and other designated or visiting U.S. government officials as directed.
Responsibilities:
- Execute protective security operations for designated officials.
- Protect officials from harm under the supervision of the BG Supervisor and managed by the Regional Security Officer (RSO) to U.S. Kampala.
- Be proficient in defense measures during personal or terrorist attacks, medical and fire procedures, and defensive and emergency driving.
- Liaise effectively with Kampala’s Police Services, military, security, and other government offices.
- Work full-time, 40 hours per week, with variable shifts, 24-hour on-call schedule, and occasional travel outside the capital city.
Qualifications:
- Completion of high/secondary school.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in private sector, government, police, or military security roles.
- Thorough knowledge of defense measures and emergency procedures.
- Proficiency in English (Level II) and Luganda or Swahili (Level II).
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate up to a Sport Utility Vehicle.
- Initiative, resourcefulness, leadership, interpersonal skills, and good judgment.
- Ability to use firearms and endure frequent travel, long working hours, and a stressful environment.
- Must pass medical and security certifications.
