Job Summary: The Lead Generator will play a crucial role in achieving agreed sales targets by proactively selling the Bank’s consumer lending and retail asset and liability products. Responsibilities include identifying and meeting customer needs through selling and cross-selling, as well as growing the branch asset and liability book.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Sales to Retail Customers (90%):

  • Achieve exceptional sales performance by identifying and meeting customer needs through effective selling and cross-selling of the Bank’s consumer lending products.
  • Provide direct sales support, including quality lead generation and effective follow-up, to convert quality leads into sales.
  • Ensure correctness and completeness of application forms for different products in line with Bank policies and requirements.
  • Comply with operational rigor requirements, including Health & Safety standards, KYC, and anti-money laundering regulations.

Customer Service (5%):

  • Provide excellent and timely customer service in line with Absa values and policies.
  • Resolve customer queries, complaints, and process applications within the bank’s service level agreements.
  • Build relationships with internal service providers to ensure quick resolution of escalated queries and complaints.

Technical Experience and Capability (5%):

  • Pursue personal development by participating in assigned learning and development trainings.
  • Agree on annual performance objectives with the line manager, including specific sales targets.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:

  • First degree, diploma, or relevant experience in a front-line banking sales/marketing/service environment.
  • Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC) in Business, Commerce, or Management Studies.
  • Proven pro-active sales generation skills, with a willingness to spend significant time in the field making sales pitches.
  • Competitor product sales experience is desired.
  • Strong relationship-building, selling, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Basic knowledge of the bank’s products and services, understanding of banking operations, and knowledge of local banking policies and laws.
  • Preferably, basic legal and credit skills and a thorough understanding of the financial services industry.
